With RDA South being the only operational RDA Centre in Tasmania and with the Centre now managed by the State Board (RDA Tasmania), it has been decided that we will only manage one page to cover all related news and information about RDA in Tasmania.

We will no longer be posting on this page. If you would like to keep up to date with all things RDA in Tassie, including RDA South news and information, then please like and follow us over on our State page - Riding for the Disabled Association of Tasmania.

Thank you to the all the wonderful supporters of this page since it's inception way back when it began as RDA Kalang. Thank you also to the many volunteers who have had a hand in managing the page.

HORSE MANURE 💩💩 FREE to collect from our Centre at 500 Kalang Ave Glenorchy.

DIY - bring your tools, trailer, large container or bags and come and collect from the manure pile any Wednesday morning, Tuesday or Thursday between 8:30am - 2:00pm or on other days by appointment. On Tuesdays and Thursdays during school term, activities may be taking place and there are certain time-frames that are not suitable.

For your convenience and ours, please contact 0478239010 or 0429943247 to let us know what day and preferred time we can expect you and we will provide you with further details.

As we are a not-for-profit, self-funded, volunteer organisation, providing horse-related activities to people with disabilities, any donation would be much appreciated, but is not mandatory.

Please feel free to share info as we have lots of garden goodness to share.

Today marks the first day back for our amazing RDA riders for 2024. We’ve missed you!❤️💜🐴

Our newest boy on the RDA block - Cadbury - was such a good fellow for Coach Claudia during yesterday’s annual volunteer training day.😍

We’re welcoming all of our riders back to the centre next week after a long summer break - and we’re so excited to see them!🎉

We’ll be holding a training day for all new volunteers at our Glenorchy centre on Tuesday February 6th.

Registration starts from 8.30am and training runs from 9am to 2.30pm.

As an RDA volunteer you will require the following:
** RWVP with NDIS endorsement
** Photo ID on arrival for verification
** Contact details of two referees

You will need to register your interest in attending the training day PRIOR to the date above, as more important info will be made available.

Here’s a throwback for sentimental Saturday.🥰

This time last week our RDA volunteers held a memorial service for Lorraine Cohen in our Sensory Garden.

Lorraine was the original coach and one of the original volunteers of RDA in Tasmania. She was part of RDA for 40 years, and everyone who started at the Kalang centre prior to 2018 knew who she was.

She trained many volunteers and coaches in her time, and without her, our centre would not exist. She was one of the most generous and kindest people you could meet. If you ever needed anything, she'd do all she could to help you. Lorraine was everyone's best mate.

Our beautiful big boy Cadbury watched the service from his paddock, clearly wanting to be involved. Caddie seemed to know that something very special was happening. Horses are amazing in that way.❤️
