CTPL Men’s Coaching Panel Announced

The Glenorchy Cricket Club are pleased to confirm Richard Grubb and Nathan Matthews will return as Co-Head Coaches of the CTPL Men’s Program for the 2026/27 season.

After a successful first year working together, Richard and Nathan will continue to lead a program that made clear gains both on and off the field throughout 2025/26. An increased win total across all grades reflected a more competitive and connected playing group, while the standards around preparation, accountability and team culture continued to strengthen.

That momentum has carried strongly into pre-season. Players across the CTPL squads have bought into the work, with noticeable technical and fitness improvements already evident throughout the group.

A key addition to the coaching panel is Damien West, who will take on the role of Under 18 Head Coach while also working closely with Richard and Nathan as an assistant across the CTPL Men’s squads.

Damien’s appointment is an important part of the club’s broader development plan. The Under 18 group and Under 16 boys will be progressively integrated into CTPL training environments, creating clearer exposure to senior standards while allowing young players to develop at the right pace.

The aim is simple: build a connected pathway where culture, individual growth and performance are fostered from the junior program through to First Grade.

With strong leadership in place and an exciting group of players coming through, the GCC enter the season with real belief in what can be built together.

A talented spinner and capable batter, Jack joins us after previous stints with South Launceston and the Raiders, bringing plenty of experience and quality to the group.

Currently a member of the Tasmanian Under 19 State Squad, we’re excited to see what he can produce in our colours this season.

Following last night's Annual General Meeting, we're pleased to confirm the Glenorchy Cricket Club Board for the 2026/27 season.

The club enters the new season with a strong mix of experience, fresh perspectives and a shared commitment to continuing the positive momentum built over the past 12 months.

We're particularly excited to welcome Simon Turk, Greg Ramsey, Mark Ackroyd and Michael Knight to the Board. Each brings unique experience, energy and a genuine passion for community sport that will strengthen our club both on and off the field.

Simon steps into the role with a strong understanding of the club, a genuine passion for junior development through various community sport leadership roles, and a clear commitment to helping young cricketers enjoy the game, improve their skills, and feel connected to the GCC pathway.

At the same time, we want to sincerely thank Steve Lacy for his outstanding contribution to junior cricket at the club.

Steve’s work across an extended period has helped establish the HJL program as the genuine backbone of GCC’s strategic direction. His time, care, organisation and commitment have had a lasting impact on countless young players, families and volunteers.

Junior cricket is the foundation our club, without it, our senior system falls over and we are incredibly grateful for the foundation Steve has helped build.

We now look forward to Simon continuing that work and helping drive the next phase of junior cricket at GCC.
