For those of you interested in Tassie motorsport history, this book written by Stephen Mott is a ripper. Motty has covered an incredible amount of detail with respect to the Penguin Hillclimb in this book. Going beyond the actual hillclimb, he discusses the characters, the cars and how this event for many years was weaved into the fabric of the North West Coast of Tasmania. The Veteran Car Club of Australia (Tas) host a pre 1940 day at Brighton every 4 weeks(Sunday). Despite the slightly Arctic climate, some fine cars turned out for the event yesterday. A couple of somewhat more modern jiggers added some colour....an event well worth a visit. The nearby Brighton Bakery received substantial patronage.

Baskerville program, March 11th 1979. Who was there ??

Symmons Plains, the original pit lane thinking 1972 ??.. A round of the Formula 2 championship. The tropical Symmons Plains weather we have all come to treat with well deserved suspicion, has elected to make life a misery for this field, slicks being exchanged for wets (Rob Burnett collection)
