The Baskerville Historics Meeting is over for another year. The level of organisation and facilities that this meeting now offers rivals if not exceeds every historic meeting in the country. HRCCT member George Bird has provided these images, taken whilst he wandered around the pits on Sunday.

Baskerville circa 1967 ?? A Tim Watts photo of Randall Bromfield's Morris Cooper S. Tim Watts when not racing, seemed to have quite a flair for taking good photos, which today are a window into yesteryear. There would not be many owners today that would risk an original Cooper S by racing it......they are immensely valuable and highly sought after.

Symmons Plains, 1966. Greg Ellis in the MGA and Brian (Humphrey) Roberts in the MG TC Special. These two gentlemen contributed significantly to the MG Car Club of Tasmania, and towards the overall fabric of Tasmanian Motorsport for many years. These cars were raced at Symmons Plains, Baskerville, Longford, with the odd run at Quorn Hall. Some years ago, the HRCCT did a day trip to the old Quorn Hall airstrip near Campbelltown which was used for motorsport post WW2 pre Baskerville and Symmons Plains. The late Greg Ellis arrived that day in the very same MGA that he is racing in this photo, and produced a medallion he had won in a MGCCT event at that venue in 1962. Both these gents are sadly gone, but the Ellis family has the MGA, and the TC Special is running around in NSW Historics. (Brian Roberts collection)

Baskerville Historics is back in 4 weeks time....the Baskerville Historics Committee move mountain and earth to make this meeting accessible, affordable and a great weekend at a wonderful venue. The variety in racing categories is huge and the entertainment value is first rate. Symmons Plains, 13th November 1966, almost 60 years ago. Not sure who is pedalling this early model, but am confident the brains trust will quickly identify who. Motorsports Tasmania would love to have crowds such as this at meetings now, things have certainly changed and not for the better in many instances. (Reg Dalwood collection)
