Jake Knapp is a great example of how powerful good tempo can be in the golf swing β³π₯
Notice how he takes the clubhead slightly outside his hands during the takeaway, creating excellent width and structure early in the swing πποΈ
At the top of the backswing, the shaft is beautifully parallel to the target line, putting him in a fantastic position to start the downswing π―πͺ
From there, the club drops slightly to the inside, allowing him to shallow the club and deliver it efficiently into impact πποΈββοΈ
He then rotates beautifully through the golf ball, producing effortless power and consistency β‘π
To finish, he holds a balanced, athletic finish position that every golfer should strive for πβ

This page is about a personalised approach to improving one's golf swing
One of the biggest highlights of Joaquin Niemann's golf swing is the way he transitions on the downswing. β³π₯
Notice how he starts by bumping his left hip towards the target before rotating his body through impact. πͺβ‘οΈ
This sequence allows him to use the ground effectively, create speed, and deliver the club consistently into the ball. πποΈ
Another key is how he keeps his hands just ahead of the clubface through impact, helping him achieve a powerful and solid strike. π―π
This is exactly what amateur golfers should be working on. πποΈ
Use your lower body first by bumping your left hip, then rotate through the shot while keeping your hands leading the clubhead. ππ₯

Great chipping starts with keeping your weight forward throughout the shot. β³π₯
One of the biggest mistakes I see is players hanging back on their trail foot and trying to lift the ball into the air with their hands. π«ποΈββοΈ
I really liked the concept in this video of keeping the weight forward and the hands slightly ahead of the clubface through impact. ππ
One thing Iβd be a little careful of though is having the ball too far back in the stance, especially if you struggle with chipping consistency. π€β³
For most golfers, Iβd recommend starting with the ball more in the middle of the stance first. β
ποΈ
If you do prefer the ball slightly back, you can also experiment with opening the clubface a little, which helps the club glide through the turf and dig less into the ground. β¨β³

Tim came in for a lesson struggling with an over-the-top downswing move, which was causing his hands to push too far toward the ball through impact. β³οΈ
This was creating an out-to-in swing path, leading to slices, pull shots, and even the occasional shank from the hands getting too far away from the body. π«ποΈ
To help fix this, we worked on a lot of controlled half swings to improve the downswing path and club delivery. π
The main focus was getting Tim to feel like his hands and shaft were staying more behind him on the way down, while also keeping his arms feeling closer to his body. π
This helped him rotate through the ball much better and deliver the club more from the inside. π₯
We also placed a marker just outside the golf ball to give immediate feedback on strike location. π―
If Tim hit the marker, it meant his hands were moving too far away from him during the downswing. β οΈ
As long as he missed the marker, he was able to return the club more efficiently and strike the centre of the clubface consistently. β

'The Quickest Way To Fix Your Slice!!'
One of the quickest and easiest ways to cure a slice in golf is by changing your setup and learning how to create a more βin to outβ swing path. A very simple drill that works extremely well for this is placing your right foot slightly behind your left foot at address. This small adjustment can instantly help golfers who struggle with coming over the top and slicing the golf ball.

Short-sided around the green and need to hit it high and soft? β³π₯
In this drill demonstrated really well above, the goal was to lob the ball over the coachβs head from only about 15 metres away. π
ποΈ
The key was laying the clubface nice and open to create more height and loft through impact. πβ¨
She also used a longer swing to make sure the ball travelled high enough and far enough to safely clear the obstacle. π―π
This is a great way to improve confidence and creativity with your short game shots around the greens. πβ³

Want to keep your head more stable during the golf swing? β³οΈ
Try placing a tee in your mouth like how Georgia is perfectly demonstrating above while you swing the club. π―
The tee gives you instant feedback on whether your head is swaying too much off the ball or moving too far forward through impact. π
Itβs a great drill to help you rotate better while keeping your head more centred and stable throughout the swing. π
Because you can see where the tee is pointing, it creates an awesome visual cue during practice. ποΈ

Struggling with a slice? β³οΈ
This fantastic drill demonstrated above helps encourage a more in-to-out swing path by placing your right foot behind your left foot. π£
Because your feet line points more to the right, it gives you a better opportunity to swing more in-to-out through impact. π
This can help reduce the out-to-in path that commonly causes slices. π
A simple setup change can create a completely different feel through the golf swing. π₯
If you'd like help with overcoming your slice, please contact myself at Dave Waters Golf Coaching located at Emerald Lakes Golf Coaching Centre. π
One of the biggest causes of a slice is turning too quickly to the left on the downswing, as this throws the arms too far out in front and creates that out-to-in swing path. β³π₯
In this video, the lower body movement and pushing the glutes back is explained really well, which is a huge key to improving your swing. πποΈββοΈ
But whatβs also important is making sure you feel a small lateral shift to the left first before rotating. βοΈποΈ
From there, feel like the glutes stay back while the body continues to rotate through the shot. ππ₯
This helps flatten the club path, improves your strike, and is a fantastic way to start curing that slice. β

A great way to test whether you are rotating your body correctly on the backswing is to place a small towel underneath your right arm as seen in the demonstration above β³
This is a fantastic drill for improving arm and body connection throughout the golf swing π
If the towel drops too early on the downswing before impact, it usually means the body hasnβt rotated enough on the backswing and the arms have disconnected from the body β
If the towel stays in position until after impact, itβs a great sign that the body has rotated correctly and the arms and body are staying connected through the shot β
ποΈββοΈ
Good connection in the golf swing can help improve consistency, strike quality, and overall ball striking π―
