My fitness journey …

My fitness journey probably started out a lot like yours. I saw the fitness world blow up on social media + thought that I simply had to have abs + a thigh gap or I wasn’t good enough.
For years I tried and tried to achieve the literal unachievable 😅

Because I could not achieve this goal, I simply put it to my knowledge. So I enrolled in university + started my certificate’s in fitness to ✨learn✨ what I do wanted to achieve.

Coming out of those 2 years, I could not have predicated the mindset shift I experienced.
I learnt off of professionals in the industry + I also learnt more about myself in those few years.
I learnt that my self worth is not attached to my physical features. And also my physical features are what make me unique and strong.
See all those years I spent trying to get a thigh gap we’re taking away from my actual strength. I can only imagine if I had started training properly earlier how strong my legs would actually be ❕

I did every genre of fitness known to man extended my knowledge as far as I could.

My achievements were all thanks to my hard work + dedication to myself.
I stopped allowing my motivation to be run be what others perceived me as and looked internally.

I know teach males + females how to self motivate and achieve their wildest goals.
I keep it real + raw with you. I will push you and I might even make you cry (in a good way😅)

I will close off this novel with this: you are never going to get anywhere sitting in your comfort zone. Stop wishing for it, get out of your own way and go after it ❕

Ways to manage gym anxiety ❕🤍

I am sure we have all at one point during our fitness journey felt anxious to walk into the gym. However there are definitely ways to manage this anxiety should it hinder your ability to show up for yourself everyday.

My top tips include:

🤍 Have a plan
- this means, having a plan set out in front of you can take the stress away from figuring out what to actually do in the gym.
I also recommend doing your warm-up somewhere central in the gym, so that you can see most of the gym floor. This way you can see what equipment you need, where it is + it’s availability. From there you can set out a plan + have some control over your training.

🤍 Comfort music:
- Put your headphones in + play some banging music that will get you pumped but also have you feeling comfortable. Sometimes it’s good to block out the noise of the gym around you. This cna help keep you focused on the task at hand.

🤍 Self-talk:
- positive self talk is so important. Saying things like; I’ve got this, I will finish this workout, I am strong enough to be here etc. will help your psyche + alter your perceptions of yourself and the gym.

🤍Grounding yourself:
- Should you start to feel anxious mid workout, it is always important to ground yourself + bring yourself back into the room. Taking. A big deep breath + start naming the things you see, then the things you smell, hear etc. This will eventually calm your heart rate and bring you back into the room to focus on the task at hand.

Just remember who you are doing this for + why you started. Some days are not always going to be easy, but you will thank yourself for getting it done.

Gym hacks for Newbies 👏🏻

The gym does not have to be a scary place !
And the sooner you get started, the sooner you will see results ✨

Some hacks I like to stick by for my gym friends are:

👉 Get a coach !
A coach can help teach you technique right the first time. There is a significantly increased risk of injury when someone new enters a gym. A coach can help teach you the fundamentals. An investment worth investing in 🙌

👉 You don’t need all the supplements !
Despite what the internet tells you, you don’t need every supplement known to man kind. In fact most of your supplements should first try and be ingested via your diet. Then if your finding your struggling, that’s when you add supplements to the equation.

👉 30-60 minute sessions are more effective!
Spending hours in the gym is unnecessary + will only hinder your progress. Overtraining is very real + will prohibit muscle growth and increase fatigue. Plus you have a life outside do the gym also !

✅ caught some sun + recovery swim
✅ pizza in the oven + a delicious cocktail call my name
✅ watching the beautiful sunset

People believe that health + fitness is the regular 6am wake up, eat nothing but clean mould.

However this is not the case ! Health + fitness can be flexible and it can fit into your regular routine 🙌
