Cervical kyphosis, or military neck, occurs when your cervical spine is straight or curves toward your front instead of its natural curve to your back.
This can be from experiencing rounded shoulders and trying to compensate by straightening the neck in order to prevent extra forward weight from your head forward posture.
Whilst it does achieve this preventing of extra forward weight, it also over works the compensation muscles causing headaches, neck and jaw pain.

Hip Replacement caused ongoing Foot Cramps and Back Pain
🤯
Client presented with ongoing cramping of the right foot for [over 3 years] after her hip replacement... Yes, for that long she has been struggling and it was impacting her sleep too.
😴
And, she was unable to raise her right leg enough to walk up the stairs causing back pain, so she side stepped instead.
😖
After muscle testing from her lower back down to her toes, I found the soleus was compensating for the psoas and this was compressing her lower back.
💡
This was for 3 reasons;
1) The psoas is a postural muscle. During standing, it stabilises the vertebral column by maintaining normal lumbar lordosis, but was inhibited due to the trauma.
2) The soleus was compensating as this is also a major postural muscle designed to stop the body from falling forwards.
3) AND zero rehabilitative advice was offered by her surgeon.
😡
I released her soleus and activated the psoas. Done!
💥
No more cramps.
No back compression.
No more sidestepping up stairs.
And quality sleep.

I'd recently gave a mobile treatment to an avid gardener who was struggling to pull w**ds from her garden.
From assessment I'd found she had a flat lower back causing the limbs to compensate and weaken at the same time.
Here's a classic example of tight hamstring muscles which are over working for weak quad muscles.
Releasing the overworking and activating the weak can provide much more range of movement and pain relief.
Now she is able to continue her hobby pain free AND has a w**d free garden. ✔️
Win win. 🤣

Jaw and Pelvic Pain
Recently a client came in with jaw pain and also pain in the pelvic region.
As these 2 typically have a relationship with each other to keep the body stable.
She was working with a specialist who diagnosed her with one leg longer than the other. After a pelvic alignment test I discovered her leg length discrepancy was actually from a tilted pelvis hiking up her leg.
This related to overactive quadratus lumborum on the right side and an underactive quadratus lumborum on the left side. I released and activated these according to bring balance. A weighted test on 2 scales confirmed her posture was more central as she initially deviated 8kg to the left and is now only 2kg which is within the normal range.
Her homework which is similar to the treatment involves releasing the left masseter and right pterygoid muscle then releasing the right quadratus lumborum and activating the left quadratus lumborum in that sequence.
With every corrective homework I recommend doing a complete set 2 times in a row to lock in the neural pathways.
In this video I demonstrate how an asymmetric pelvic position can have an impact on the jaw. 👇

Two weeks ago I visited Club 40fied to enquire about renting space... only to find they were closed that day.
😭
Without even knowing my visit (and intention), they had reached out to me to visit their clinic the following week.
🤣
NOW, I'm opening up in two weeks and have a fully equipped functional movement centre and therapy space to help my clients look and feel their best.
🙂

Aho!

Another frozen shoulder client yesterday.
In one session I was able to assist with a significant amount of improvement in her range.
🥳
This was primarily from releasing her thoraco-lumbar-fascia in relation to glute max and the opposite latimus dorsi.
😳
Why you ask?
Because they are part of the posterior oblique sling and when the hip becomes tight at the SIJ the opposite shoulder compensates.
🤯
This is exacerbated by walking because the extension of the said hip is restricted resulting in shoulder compensation in flexion... Thus the frozen shoulder...

My client was experiencing both jaw and hip pain coupled with his jaw was clicking when chewing.
I noticed his jaw shifted to the right when closing. The relationship of the jaw to the hip is well established and often overlooked.
NKT testing found the left pterygoid overworking and the right QL underworking in the frontal (lateral) plane.
Released the pterygoid and activated the QL muscle.
After one session and several reps of homework his jaw closed smoothly and his hip felt much better.
