ππ A Big Bay Thank You ππ
The Runaway Bay Cricket Club would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our Club Coach for the 2025/26 season, Suranga Lakmal.
While his time at the Bay was just one season, the impact he made will be felt for years to come. Suranaga brought with him a competitive edge, a relentless work ethic, and a passion for the game that truly transformed our club. His attitude was infectiousβlifting standards, inspiring our players, and reshaping the culture both on and off the field.
From battling near the bottom of the ladder across multiple grades to achieving overall Club Champions and Turf Club Champions for Gold Coast Cricket, this season has been nothing short of remarkable. That turnaround is a testament to Suranagaβs leadership, planning, and deep knowledge of the game.
As he now moves on to further his coaching career, we wish him nothing but success in the next chapter. Thank you for everything youβve given to the Bay.
Thanks, Machan π

JUNIOR SAM LOXTON AWARD 2025/26 π
Some seasons simply take the wind out of you.
This is one of those.
At just 14 years old, Lucy Logan doesn't just compete against boys two age groups above her in open turf cricket β she dominates them.
Her mastery across all competitions this year π
2,611 runs. 81.59 batting average. 65 innings. 5 centuries. 20 half-centuries.
As our wicket-keeper she also snared 29 catches, 19 run outs and 12 stumpings.
But the magic doesn't stop there:
π₯ National Grand Final MVP β Gold Medal & Player of the Final at U16 Nationals
π¦πΊ All-Australian Selection
Lucy, the Junior Sam Loxton Award has never been more deserved.
You are hurtling towards true greatness. We're just grateful to have played a part in that, and to have watched the show.

Our Under 13βs Division 2 are Premiers for Season 2025/26! π
Charlie Clark & Jackson Wakefield tore through the opposition line-up - restricting Mudgee to 120.
Huddie Schultz and Hugo Collett then opened up and put on a show. Both retiring with strike rates over 100.
Lachlan McQueen soon followed them as a retiree for the day with 26.
And the total was mown down with just the loss of two wickets in the 19th over.
The Pink Zinc-ers saved one of their best performances till last. And got the maraschino cherry on top π
Special thanks to Coach & now honorary Kiwi Brad Collett, assistant coach Ted Gossett & Maggie McQueen who led our side with aplomb.

Walks out to face a 22-year-old in Fifths who usually plays Twos.
Who just wiped out our middle order bowling thunderbolts.
With the side now in a tricky situation chasing an awkward total.
Spanks three quick fours off the lippy 22-year-old including the Grand Final-winning runs.
At an age where most people are being cremated.
Thereβs only one Jamie Hunt.
