Today commences Reconciliation Week 27 May - 3 June.
Why these dates for Rec Week:
-27 May: The anniversary of the 1967 referendum, when over 90% of Australians voted to include Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in the census and allow the Commonwealth to make laws for them.
-3 June: Mabo Day, which marks the historic 1992 High Court decision recognizing native title and overturning the doctrine of terra nullius
How are you showing up this week and beyond to build stronger relationships with the Mob?
We encourage you to explore and build genuine relationships with the Mob and organisations like TRIMOB's that are First Nations founded and led.
If you want to understand how you can do this. Please DM

National Sorry Day holds deep significance for our Mob. It is a day to remember and acknowledge the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples who were forcibly removed from their families and communities, the Stolen Generations.
Today, we honour our mob who were taken, and we acknowledge the families, communities, and ancestors who were, and continue to be, deeply impacted by these injustices.
We also recognise the ongoing effects of discriminatory child removal policies that continue to affect our people across Australia today. We pay our respects to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples who continue to carry this pain and resilience across generations.

A marathon is a long way and sometimes seems impossible to fathom when you are at the start line and 42.2km to cover. The same can has been said in the context of better understanding and celebrating Aboriginal people and cultures. I don't want to make a mistake, I don't know where to start it's all to hard. But just like a marathon if you take one step and then another the finish line seems closer or in this case the relationships grow and respect for each other is formed and the fear starts to diminish. Today was another step forward for the team as they met with & to grow their understandings of the local Dharawal mob, the history, cultures and country in which the 42.2km race takes place.
Love seeing this growth and love being able to connect people together.
