Incredibly disappointing for not only our Gold Coast kids but everyone in general 😩

Queensland Festival of Indoor U15s and U13s Events Update:

It is with deep regret Hockey Queensland in consultation with the Indoor Committee have made the decision to cancel the Queensland Festival of Indoor events for the U15s and U13s effective immediately after increased positive Covid19 test results from various stakeholders who attended the Opens/21s/18s event.

This decision was difficult to make. Hockey Queensland has exhausted all avenues to keep these events alive for our players. These included additional Covid safe measures, further restrictions on attendance, reduction of staff and postponement of the event. Hockey Queensland has a duty of care to our Staff, Officials, Volunteers, Team Officials, Players and Hockey Community and we cannot put any of our members and their loved ones at any further risk. Reasons for the cancellation include:
- Health and Wellbeing of our Hockey Community
- Increased case numbers and new government modelling of case numbers
- Reduced capacity to organise the event due to positive cases within the administrators and officials
- Risk for junior age groups without access to vaccinations

We are disappointed to make this decision but firmly believe it is the right way forward. We will inform all players, officials and volunteers of the decision tonight. The $180 registration fee for players will be automatically refunded within the next two weeks.

Please remember if you feeling unwell or develop symptoms go get tested and follow the Qld Health Government guidelines and requirements.

Evening everyone, firstly thank you all for your support in getting an indoor competition up and running on the Gold Coast, we deeply appreciate it. Unfortunately we can no longer run a competition due to venues bring unavailable. Believe us, we are just as disappointed as you.

We have exhausted all of our other options, schools, halls, PCYCs etc but at this point, nowhere can accommodate us.

However, if you would still like to play and you don't mind the travel, South Brisbane Vipers are running a competition in Mansfield and can accommodate some teams.

If you are interested in submitting a team and can all commit to a full season (5th Oct to 9th Dec) please contact me via email only at [email protected]

Due to the courts at Tallebudgera Rec Centre now being unavailable, the Indoor Hockey Competition has been moved to Runaway Bay Indoor Centre and Carrara Indoor Sports Centre.

Whilst we hope it doesn't, we understand that with the change in venue, some of you may not be able to play.
