After their successful game vs Logan on Saturday, the Lab Gold U14 boys began learning about the history of the club and the great players who came before them. We kicked off this journey with Brent Livermore OAM — captain of the gold‑medal‑winning Kookaburras at the 2004 Athens Olympics, and a long‑time player and coach at Labrador. To finish the session, we watched highlights from the unforgettable gold‑medal final in Athens 2004 against the Netherlands.

The boys had a fantastic time and really enjoyed learning not only about Brent, but also about the many Australian hockey legends who featured in that final and brought home Olympic gold for Australia. The photo shows the boys highlighting Brent Livermore’s picture as part of the session. The education journey continues.

Join us this Saturday for our BHL home games when LHC goes up against Valley Hockey Club. BHL 2 kicks off at 2.30pm followed by BHL 1 at 4pm. Make sure you also get your tickets in the BHL home game raffle for your chance to win a V8 Super Car 5 lap self-drive experience at Norwell Motorplex valued at $270. The winner will get the opportunity to choose whether to race in a Holden or Ford V8 supercar. We look forward to seeing you on game day!

Congratulations to Breah Fischer, Rory Kovacevich, Imogen Burger, Finn Robinson, Kalani Franklin, Will Powell, Daykin Stanger and Hudson Keeble who are this week representing Queensland at the Hockey Australia U21 Championships being held in Canberra. Wishing the teams all the best for the remainder of the tournament!

Congratulations to Aurora Kovacevich, Matilda Reitz and Max Venables, on their selection in the Australian Under 18 teams in an upcoming international series being held in India. Both teams will compete in a four-match series from May 10 – 21, 2026.

Aurora and Matilda are key members of LHC’s Div 1 Women’s team, Open Girl’s team and both currently play in the BWHA Premier League competition. Max represents LHC in the BHL 2 competition. Wishing them all the best on their tour!

Congratulations to Taylor Garside on her QLD Maroon representation at the U16 Girls National Championships held in Hobart over the last week. QLD Maroon today won the Grand Final! Impressive achievement, Taylor!

Congratulations to Jack Justin, Hugh Marshall and Braedan Prinsloo on representing Queensland at the U16 Boys National Championships held in Hobart over the last week. Jack’s team QLD Gold finished 7th and Hugh and Braedan’s team QLD Maroon finished 5th. Well done boys!

In January Ruby Horsfield and Matilda Reitz won the U16 National Indoor Championships representing Queensland in Goulburn. Ruby made crucial saves in goal and Matilda finished as Queensland's top goal scorer. Fantastic tournament girls!

Thanks to kristin.school for some great games on Sunday night the the Gold Coast Hockey Centre - school hockey is where it is at in NZ - hope to see you back here next year
