Short answer: not under the current AT-HM list. Pedal tricycles and cycle adaptations are excluded, and electric assistance doesn’t change that.

If it’s already in your support plan, the change applies automatically.

Already own an electric trike in ? Here’s something important to know.🎯

Following the new Special Purpose rules, some electric trikes may need their throttle settings adjusted so that motor-only operation is limited to 12 km/h.

But there’s no need to start changing anything yourself. 😉

At :

✓ Most Trike Bike models are already configured correctly
✓ Some models may require reprogramming
✓ New applicable trikes will be configured before delivery
✓ Existing customers will receive further information where changes are required

Please don’t try to reprogram your trike yourself. The required settings use proprietary programming equipment and procedures.

We’re working with our manufacturers and suppliers to make sure the necessary changes are handled properly. 👌

12 km/h or 25 km/h — what’s the difference?🧐

If you ride an eligible Special Purpose tricycle in , the new rules make an important distinction between throttle operation and pedal assistance.

🔸 Motor-only throttle: up to 12 km/h
🔸 Pedal assistance: up to 25 km/h

In simple terms, the motor can propel the trike without pedalling up to 12 km/h. With pedal assistance, assistance can continue up to 25 km/h.

So if you’re buying or already riding an electric trike, understanding how your motor and throttle are configured matters.😎

Good news for Queensland electric trike riders! 🚴‍♀️

Queensland has introduced a clearer legal pathway for eligible Special Purpose tricycles.

If you ride an electric trike, there are a few important things to know:

🪖 Helmets are required for all riders.

🚲 You can ride wherever bicycles are legally permitted, subject to the applicable rules.

⚡ 12 km/h for motor-only throttle operation and 25 km/h for pedal assistance apply to eligible Special Purpose EPACs.

One of the biggest differences between riding a bicycle and a tricycle is how the bike moves underneath you. 👇

When crossing a gutter or larger bump at an angle, the trike can move sideways as well as vertically.

Michael demonstrates keeping your body centred and allowing the trike to move underneath you, rather than fighting the movement. 🚲

This is an advanced riding technique, so start small, take your time and only practise when you're comfortable.
