Renegades 32 Rugby 7s

🇦🇺 FOUR RENEGADES. ONE INCREDIBLE OPPORTUNITY. 💚💛

A massive congratulations to TJ Murray, Aimee Henry, Grace Buchanan and Billie Backus on their selection in Australia’s Youth Olympic Rugby 7s team! 🙌

The girls head to Dakar, in Africa next week to take on the world at the 2026 Youth Olympic Games—with an extra special shoutout to Aimee, who will captain the Australian team! 👏

Let this sink in… ONE-THIRD of the Australian team are Renegades players. 🤯 Four girls from our Renes family, pulling on the green and gold together. How incredible is that?!

Behind every selection are hours of training, sacrifices, setbacks and the determination to keep getting better. Girls, you’ve earned this opportunity, and we couldn’t be prouder to have been part of your journeys. Now it’s time to back yourselves, back each other and enjoy every moment. Play with courage, bring your energy and make some unforgettable memories. 💪✨

Good luck to our four girls and the entire Australian team. Your Renegades family will be cheering loudly from home! 🇦🇺🔥

Built Through Purpose. Ready for the world.

6 of these athletes are U18 and today absolutely killed it in their first Women’s 7s comp at the Byron Bay 7s. They went through undefeated, didn’t concede any points and scored a massive 186 points across the 4 games. The future of QLD rugby looks bright with talent like this coming through! 😍💪
It was also awesome to reunite with some of our Rene’s alumni with Kali Ainsworth, Charlize Ratu, Nikeisha Ngaru and Akira Crocker jamming with the girls today too!

THROWBACK THURSDAY 🎉🏉🤟

Our very first Renegades U12 Girls team.

They were just 11 and 12 years old when they started with Renegades — and incredibly, five of the girls in this team have since gone on to play professional rugby or rugby league, one is an Australian oz tag player and some are now mothers.

Can you recognise any of them? 👀

This photo takes us back to their first domestic tournament and one of those trips we’ll never forget. The girls dominated the tournament, eventually taking on the host team, Magic, in the Grand Final and coming away with a 37–5 win. 🏆

But when we look back now, the rugby is only part of what we remember. For some of these girls, it was their first ever plane ride. For others, their first time staying in a hotel — and for a few, the discovery of one of the best things in the world... a hotel breakfast buffet. 😂

Then there was the night they decided sleep was apparently optional. They stayed up pretty much all night before waking at around 4:30am to clean their rooms and braid their hair. We still remember walking into one of the rooms and seeing them all sitting in a line behind each other, braiding the hair of the person in front of them. We were certain they would completely crash the following night. They did not. 😂

Looking at this photo now, though, what stands out most isn't just the success of the tournament or even where some of these girls have gone with their sport. It's the friendships.

That trip was the beginning of some really special friendships that would span many years. They travelled together, played together, grew up together and shared experiences they probably didn't realise at the time would become some of their best memories.

And that's what rugby does. It gives kids opportunities. It takes them places they've never been. It challenges them. It creates memories, friendships and connections that can last well beyond the final whistle.

A huge Renegades representation in the U16 and U19 QLD Next Gen XVs teams that will head to Sydney to play NSW over the next month. Massive congratulations to all players selected.

OUR FIRST CAMP. ON FATHER’S DAY. 💙

What better way to kick off our season than with a beautiful Gold Coast day at Eagles — and what better way for our Renegades dads to spend Father’s Day than with us? 😏

Our first camp brought together new and returning athletes and families for a morning of testing, team bonding, connection and plenty of laughs.

For the athletes, it was an opportunity to set some benchmarks, work together and start building the connections that will carry into the season ahead. For the dads… we kept the physical testing to a minimum. 😂

With a few old knees, backs, shoulders and hamstrings amongst the group, we decided communication, teamwork and brain power might be the safer option! The Dad Challenges brought plenty of laughs as they worked alongside their Renes — and let’s just say the number of dads who couldn't remember their own child's birthday was absolutely priceless. 🤦‍♂️😂 Throw in some good food and a lot of laughs, and it was a pretty special way to celebrate Father’s Day. But underneath all the fun was something important.

With new athletes and families joining us this season, camp was our first opportunity to bring everyone together — to learn names, build relationships and start creating that feeling of belonging that matters so much to what we do.

And having our dads there was a pretty fitting reminder that young athletes never make this journey on their own. Behind the trainings, tournaments, wins, losses and big moments are the dads doing the early starts, long drives and endless drop-offs and pick-ups. The ones offering advice (sometimes wanted 😜), encouragement and perspective. The ones standing quietly on the sideline, celebrating the good days and helping their kids through the tough ones.

They might occasionally forget a birthday… but they rarely forget to show up. 💙 And for a young athlete, that matters more than they probably realise.

Happy Father’s Day to all our Renegades dads. Thanks for spending part of your special day with us.
