After a long absence, our colours were worn on a racetrack again…only this time it was a bit more special as we have been there from the beginning with this girl as we bred her. We also have many friends and family who now own her with us. Today Madame Doubtfire had a good experience on debut running home strongly for fourth.

Today this gorgeous girl had her first race. After two major eye surgeries it’s been quite the journey and to see her come from last to finish 3rd on debut felt like a win! I’m so stoked for the owners and proud of how tough this filly is!

Rosehill R4 no4 TRUMBULL (win)

Dropping back from a Listed race where his run was enormous! Absolutely flew home after missing the start. He's rock hard fit with a suitable barrier and I expect Nash who is a top class jockey to give him a nice run with cover midfield so he can get the 1500m distance which is unproven at this stage.

Caulfield R5 no1 DYSLEXIC (EW)
A talented enough mare who hasn't had much luck of late and finds a weaker race than it's last few and perhaps the Melbourne way of going will suit. Can go forward or take a sit from gate 5 and if she settles in the run she shoudl be pretty strong late. The claim from the apprentice puts her in the race well enough and I just think the $10 quote is a touch of overs.

Doomben R6 no10 GREY SHADOW (EW)

A mare I have had good success with in Melbourne who has raced in Sydney its last few starts and may have been going only fairly however last start was on a heavy which she clearly disliked. On a good track today and has had a 7 week break and she performs best fresh! What I also really like is that she wears blinkers for the first time and this field is of lesser quality then what she is used to. Tricky gate which is a concern but I am happy to have a nibble at the $10 on offer in an open race.

Doomben R8 no3 DAWN PASSAGE (best)

Short odds I know but is a versatile lightly raced c**t that has to win this event to get into the G1 Stradbroke. He's in hot form running great times and I think Doomban will suit and he is also rock hard fit who has mixed it with the best 3YO's. I'm going against one of my favs in Exhilarates who should have won last start. She gets a good run but the 1350m is a queston mark for mine but barrier will assist.

Hi Everyone,

Last week was a winning one with three 2nds and a $5 winner from 5 picks. Thought I'd give you a rest from seeing my lid and just write my picks for today down with some little explanations.....

DOOMBEN R1 No11 THE ACTUARY (win)

2YO taking on what looks to be a weak maiden. She debuted in a Stakes race behind Away Game beaten six lengths. Given time and looked to have more up her sleeve in a recent trial. Drawn well and if she is to progress then she should be winning this.

MORPHETTVILLE R6 No4 Roccabascarana (each-way)

A nice style of a horse with a good record. 1st up he was decent behind an electric Garner but he did a few things wrong and has his head to the side at times. Importantly he gets the blinkers 1st time and should excel 2nd up. Is also 3 from 3 on a Soft track which he finds today. Garner and Xilong will be tough to beat but this horse is at the $4.80 mark so can go each way. He looks to have a lot in his favour which is why I'm hoping he can turn the tables.

MORPHETTVILLE R9 No2 HOME OF THE BRAVE (each-way)

This horse runs his best races 1st UP and 2nd UP. HE was good 1st up behind two stars in Gytrash and Sunlight and importantly today he finds Soft ground which he grows another leg in. From the good gate I expect him to lead and fend them off late. There is good speed engaged in this race but they are drawn outside him and will have to work. At around $6.50 he is a top each way bet to finish the day although it is an even race.
