The air conditioner was in the property before Maya bought it. This means, it’s a second-hand depreciating asset, and she can’t claim its decline in value in her tax return.

However, she learns she can claim the decline in value of the replacement unit based on the ‘effective life’.

Haha I can relate!

Remember, if you’re using your own car for work-related trips, you can claim a deduction for the additional costs you incur – such as tolls to, and parking at a client’s premises.

But you’ll need to keep your receipts now for next tax time 🧾
