Man Arrested After Jet Ski Ride Through Flooded Bangkok Street

A man has been arrested and charged with causing a nuisance after riding a jet ski along a flooded road in Bangkok, Thailand, with police planning to bring him before a court on September 28.

The incident occurred on New Phetchaburi Road in the city’s Makkasan sub-district. A video widely shared online showed the rider speeding through the floodwater and making sharp turns, sending waves towards nearby homes and roadside structures.

During preliminary questioning, the man reportedly told police he was unaware of the relevant cultural expectations and precautions. He said he had travelled to the flooded road with a Thai friend who recorded the ride.

Police also intend to ask the court to order the forfeiture of the jet ski used in the incident.
