FUN FACT: a phenomenon we have recognized in coaching, and we couldn’t explain for years, is that if we give clients/athletes hard workouts on consecutive days many times or even all the times, they will perform better on the second day. In a coach’s eyes, it didn’t make sense because we assumed that our client/athlete should be sore and fatigued from the previous workout and have lower results on the second day.
The neuroscientist Dr. Scott H. Frey explains that it is an acclimatization process to the exhaustion, to the intensity of the workout. It gives the mind a better capacity to endure the workload the second time.
This tells us the importance of a good warm-up and activation phase on a workout routine or even before practicing your sport. It prepares your mind for the shocking experience your body will endure; for the first time, the effort will hit.
This is another excellent example of the power of the mind has in sports performance.
It is a fascinating fact to consider, especially for competitive surfers, before going to their first heat and want to optimise their performance.

Gosh, life can be hard sometimes.. but I can’t imagine living my life in simplicity. I choose to face my fears every day. I trust in myself and life. I know that the harder you work, the bigger the reward. During tough times, I try to be patient and keep trying because I know someday it will all be worth it.

Hasta pronto Costa Rica!
It’s time for me to move. After 8 years of living here, it’s not an easy task, but much needed for achieving new goals. I am moving to Australia to work mainly with competitive surfers and athletes. For a while now, I have been learning about fitness, nutrition and sports psychology. It is time to put my skills into practice!!
I am leaving the heart big thinking about all the incredible adventures I had and the friends Im leaving behind. I will never forget, and I’ll be back soon 💛

Competing is hard. It brings out the best or the worst of you. But I believe that overcoming challenging situations makes you stronger and better. It is the best way to get to know yourself deeply, and Im addicted to that challenge!!

The goal is the system you use to reach your goal, not the goal itself. Set a goal it’s easy. What's hard is the collection of daily habits you collect that will place you on the right path to your goal. Everyday decisions you make are a step closer to your goal.
