The Broadbeach Waves 20/20 Franchise

Semi final report: we lost the toss and PNG elected to bat first. A couple of early chances were missed, and proved costly as Assad Vala and his opening partner put on plenty for the first wicket. All bowlers tried hard, but some clean hitting by the PNG boys saw them total 204. The Waves then went into bat, but the big total saw a steady flow of wickets fall, and we were never in the hunt, being bowled out for 94. A big thanks to all the lads who travelled for the tournament, thanks to all our supporters, and hopefully we can go that one step further next year!!

Congratulations to Craig Mitchell for capturing most wickets in the round robin stage of the tournament. Shane Connors was right up there as well. Craig and Sean Fitzsimmons were among the top run getters so far also. Broady Waves defeated Southern Blue Dogs today at H&A Oval. We bowled first and had them 8/92 off 20 overs. Best bowling was Craig Mitchell with 4/10 off 4 overs, Corey Galloway, Shane Connors, Mark "the Finisher" Sharrad and Shamus Robertson all picked up one wicket. We then batted, after an underwhelming three ball duck from Todd Schloss, Craig Mitchell 32*and Sean Fitzsimmons 34* guided us to victory with an over to spare. Stay tuned for finals draw coming shortly.

Hey all Waves players and supporters. There is a function/presentation being held at Palm Beach Cricket Club after our game today. Most wickets and runs for the tournament will be presented as well as the draw for the finals will be announced.

Game update for Saturday 29th December. All players are required at the ground at 12.45pm. For all spectators, game starts at 2pm, come down and support the boys for our fourth win from four games.

First ball at H&A

Games today start at 10am. Between Gold Coast Logan and the Southern Bulldogs. The Waves play at 2pm against Gold Coast Logan, who we beat comfortably yesterday. Come down, the bar and kitchen are open, promises to be a good day, see you there!!!

Game two result. Southern bulldogs batted first and made 233 off their 20 overs. Shane Connors got 3/42. We then batted and Sean Fitzsimmons smashed 67 off 24, Craig Mitchell made 48 off 22, Tom Hughes 38 off 21, Todd Schloss 35 off 15 and Mitch Nolan 28 off 11 guided us to victory with 2.4 overs to spare.

Game one. Waves batted first and made 173 off 19.2 overs. Todd Schloss top scored with 40, Tom Hughes made 28 off 19. We then bowled out Gold Coast Logan for 108. Craig Mitchell took 4/17 and Mark Sharrad took 3/23.
