A quick update on my Push-Up Challenge journey

I’ve been hitting the gym hard to prepare physically for what’s ahead (my shoulders are already asking questions 😅), because in just over a week, from 3–26 June, I’ll be completing 3,307 push-ups in 24 days to raise awareness and support for mental health across Australia.

Thank you to everyone who has donated so far. I’m incredibly grateful to let you know that thanks to the generosity of so many people, we are currently sitting at $2,021 raised.

We have smashed my original minimum target which was $2,000 — reaching it before the challenge even begins means a lot.......... But !

I’m not done yet. I’m now setting a stretch target of $3,000, and I’d absolutely love your help getting there.

One thing I’d really ask today…

Like many Aussies, I’ve had my own struggles. I’ve also had close mates battle through difficult times, and sadly some who are no longer with us. Through starting the Varsity Lakes Local Legends Darts League and other community initiatives, I’ve become increasingly passionate about creating connection, mateship, and encouraging open conversations around mental health.

The funds raised help support Lifeline, headspace, and The Push For Better Foundation to deliver vital mental health support services, education programs and community initiatives across Australia.

I’m very proud (if not slightly nervous) to be taking part in the 'Push-Up Challenge' to help raise awareness and support for mental health across Australia.

This number represents the number of lives lost to su***de in Australia in 2024.

Like many Aussies, I have faced my own mental health struggles. I’ve also had close friends who have suffered deeply, and tragically, some who are no longer with us. These experiences have shown me just how important it is that we continue breaking the stigma around mental health.

Through my establishment of a local men’s darts club, (Varsity Lakes Local legends Darts League) in support men’s mental health - I’ve become passionate about creating connection, mateship, and open conversations around men’s mental health.
I strongly believe we all have the ability to overcome mental barriers in our daily lives when we support each other and know we are not alone.

For myself and my team mate Steve I’d like to sincerely apologise to all for our horrendous lack of skill or any endearing attributes towards the game of darts. Shameful comes to mind - ‘give it up’ was shouted - and WTF felt like a safe word !!
Nonetheless - joy was felt, laughter was heard and smiling faces were abound - so I say thanks to all you legends for another amazing evening.
