๐Ÿ† Congratulations to Luca Free and Danica Free! ๐Ÿ†

We are incredibly proud of Luca and Danica for their outstanding performances at the Under 19 and Under 23 World Championships! ๐ŸŒ

๐Ÿฅ‰ Luca Free, alongside Alex Williams, is bringing home a bronze medal in the JM2x, a testament to their dedication and resilience, under the expert guidance of Coach Chris Holliday.

๐ŸŒŸ Danica Free and Romy Cantwell have proven their strength and determination by finishing as the 6th best in the world after making the A Final in the Under 23 Women's 2x, skillfully coached by Duncan Free.

Reaching the pinnacle of this sport at the World Championships is no easy feat. It demands immense sacrifice, countless hours of hard work, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. These remarkable athletes and their dedicated coaches have truly earned this moment of glory.

Now, it's time for Luca, Danica, Chris, and Duncan to celebrate, rest, and cherish the memories they've made on this incredible journey. We canโ€™t wait to welcome them back to Australian shores for even more celebrating!

Our Worlds Campaigns are ๐Ÿ”ฅ firing up over Winter!

The GUSPRC has been a flurry of activity and training over the past few weeks with some of our top Athletes headlong into their International campaigns.

Head Coach Chris Holliday is happy with the solid start for the Australian Under 19 Double Scull combination of GUSPRC athlete Luca Free (with Alex Williams from South Australia) and looking forward to progressing over the next few weeks before firing up for the World Championships in Canada in August.

The next two weeks will see our senior High Performance athlete Jackson Free and his Coach Marcus fine tune their race strategies ahead of the 2024 Henley Royal Regatta, in preparation for the Diamond Sculls event and the Double Sculls Challenge Cup (with UKโ€™s Cam Buchan). Jacko is in good shape and looking good! Go Jacko!

Our High Performance coach Duncan Free has also been busy and pleased with the progress of his Australian Under 23 Womens Double Scull combination of our athlete Danica Free and Romy Cantwell of Victoria. This crew also bound for Canada to hit out at the World Championships in August.

We also have a Masters Athlete gearing up for the World Masters Rowing Championships to be held in Germany in September. Hayley Biddle is ramping up her training volume significantly after a recent illness and is very excited to peak in September for her B and C Single Scull races.

Still some years away though our Para Athlete Sara-Ashlee Tait has her sights set on LA 2028 and Coach Chris is very happy with her progress considering she only just took up rowing earlier this year after a successful triathlon career. Sara has been a diligent self motivated athlete and itโ€™s been a pleasure to teach her the art of rowing.

Amongst all our international level athletes, are our member athlete squads, namely High Performance, Masters, Junior Pathways, our School program with Coach Simon and our Club rowers who have all been equally hard at work pushing out the kilometres on the mighty Nerang river day in day out, with their season goals at the forefront of their minds as they set out to train in the early hours, dark and often freezing mornings. Whether itโ€™s a brutal Erg session or long T2 water session, they are all dedicated to their programs and showing great signs of progress in this pre season already.

Itโ€™s been a fantastic start to our '24/'25 season says Chris, and with much more excitement for the club on the horizon, he is super proud of all the members and athletes and is keen to see all the hard work pay off.

Enjoy our montage of training recently at GUSPRC - mostly of our athletes on their Worlds campaigns.
