🇦🇺 After 10 days full of Capoeira, we have come to the end of our 2025 Abadá-Capoeira Australian Festival with successful events held on the Gold Coast, Melbourne and Sydney. We couldn’t be more proud of our students, teachers and the entire Capoeira community who came together to learn and celebrate with us. We would like to thank our special guest and region coordinator Mestrando Pretão and our Mestre Camisa for all the mentorship, guidance and for believing in our work 🙏🏽

🇧🇷 Após 10 dias repletos de Capoeira, chegamos ao fim do nosso 2025 Festival Australiano de Capoeira Abadá, com grandes eventos de sucesso realizados na Gold Coast, Melbourne e Sydney. Não poderíamos estar mais orgulhosos de nossos alunos, professores e de toda a comunidade da Capoeira que se uniram para aprender e celebrar conosco. Gostaríamos de agradecer ao nosso convidado especial e coordenador da região Mestrando Pretão, e ao nosso Mestre Camisa por toda a mentoria, orientação e por acreditarem em nosso trabalho 🙏🏽

Sou Abadá-Capoeira, sou Capoeira Abada 🙌🏽

What a week, I can’t really describe in words what it meant to me to be part of the biggest Capoeira event and competition in the world after 20+ years without competing! Unfortunately, I don’t have any footage of myself competing because it wasn’t allowed to film at CEMB! Anyway, It was a great experience to compete in The World Games of Capoeira Abada, I managed to go through the trials and I made it to the quarter finals in the very populated heavy weight division (categoria B, peso gunga). I feel like I had a pretty good training camp leading up to the competition, at almost 42 years old I pushed my body beyond the breaking point a lot to be able to compete with the best athletes in Capoeira Abada, it’s paid off, I was stoked that my skills could go head to head with any of them! I finished the competition in within the 16 best in the world on a equal 9th position. I wish I could’ve gone further in the comp to show a bit more of what I’m capable of, but even though it didn’t happen I’m very happy with my performance, specially in the quarter finals. I would like to thank Mestre Camisa once again for everything he has taught me, he made me a much better Capoeirista, athlete and more importantly, a better person. Thank you to all event organisers, Mestres and Mestrandos of our school and everyone who helped in the making of the biggest Capoeira event in the world! I’m very proud to be part of Abadá family and also very happy with myself, my performance and my result in the competition! Gratidão 🙏🏽

🇧🇷 Que semana, não consigo descrever em palavras o que significou para mim fazer parte do maior evento e competição de Capoeira do mundo depois de mais de 20 anos sem competir! Infelizmente não tenho nenhuma filmagem minha competindo porque não foi permitido filmar no CEMB! Enfim, foi uma ótima experiência disputar os Jogos Mundiais de Capoeira Abada, consegui passar pelas seletivas e cheguei às quartas de final na lotada categoria peso pesado (categoria B, peso gunga). Sinto que fiz um treinamento muito bom antes da competição, com quase 42 anos levei muito meu corpo para além do limite para poder competir com os melhores atletas da Capoeira Abada, valeu a pena, eu estava feliz que minhas habilidades pudessem competir com qualquer um deles! Terminei a competição entre os 16 melhores do mundo, em igual 9ª posição. Gostaria de ter ido mais longe na competição para mostrar um pouco mais do que sou capaz, mas mesmo que isso não tenha acontecido estou muito feliz com meu desempenho, principalmente nas quartas de final. Gostaria de agradecer mais uma vez ao Mestre Camisa por tudo que me ensinou, me tornou um Capoeirista muito melhor, um atleta e, principalmente, uma pessoa melhor. Obrigado a todos os organizadores do evento, Mestres e Mestrandos da nossa escola e a todos que ajudaram na realização do maior evento de Capoeira do mundo! Tenho muito orgulho de fazer parte da família Abadá e também muito feliz comigo mesmo, com meu desempenho e com meu resultado na competição! Gratidão 🙏🏽

27 years of Capoeira led me to this moment, I can’t really describe how honoured and accomplished I feel right now, everything happens for a reason and at the right time! I would like to thank firstly God for giving me strength to keep moving forward regardless of the challenges I’ve found on my journey, secondly to my Mestre Camisa for awarding me with a new belt (corda), for believing in me, in my work and for mentoring and teaching me so much, also thank you to Abadá-Capoeira council of Masters, for approving my new belt (corda), I promise to always keep up with the high standards of our school. I also would like to thank my family, specially my wife who is always on my side, believing in my potential to accomplish everything I set myself to do, for being understanding about the amount of time I spend training to become better everyday, and for taking care of our son while I could dedicate the last 2 weeks exclusively to Capoeira! Corda Roxa/Marrom 💜🤎 another big step in the right direction, slowly but surely we’ll get to our final goal one day 👊🏽 this is a marathon not a sprint and I have a lot os stamina to go all the way! Thank you Abadá-Capoeira school, I proudly represent and teach CAPOEIRA ABADA 🙏🏽🙌🏽

2023 Abadá-Capoeira Gold Coast Batizado and grading ceremony! Amazing night surrounded by great people! We would like to thank our special guest from Brazil and also our Abadá Capoeira family for the support and amazing energy! Congratulations to all kids and adults who got their new “cordas” and a huge thanks to all parents who believe in Capoeira as a tool to improve all the multiple intelligences of their kids, their self-confidence and socialisation skills!
