Paradise Point Sailing Club We are a small club of very enthusiastic sailors of all ages. Note - off the beach classes only. for just 5 years. The new club opened in October 2008.

In 2007 a group of local residents, businesses and sports people developed a plan to open a sailing facility using an old council owned sailing club building which needed refurbishment. A core committee of three loaned their own funds and applied to Gold Coast City Council to lease the facility as the Paradise Point Sailing Club Inc. Given the major turnaround that the PPSC has achieved the council has awarded it with a 15 year lease. The committee believe that this facility would promote a healthy and active lifestyle by enabling families and interested groups to participate at an affordable cost. Also that it provided an important local amenity that is accessible to the public interested in sailing and marine safety. It would continue to operate as a sail training facility to introduce children and families to experience, learn and compete in the sport of sailing. Company Overview
Paradise Point Sailing Club Inc. is a not for profit organisation whose main goals upon its inception in 2008 was to instigate a program of active participation in sailing for children and families. Its focus is the provision of amenities to promote the sport of sailing by conducting year-round junior and senior education and development. PPSC also operates a public accessible boat licensing and marine safety training facilities. The club operates from leased premises on the Paradise Point Esplanade adjacent the Ephraim Island bridge. The waters in the Broadwater adjacent Paradise Point are shallow protected waters ideal for dingy and skiff sailing. Marine safety designates our area as “smooth to partially smooth”, which offers the PPSC community the opportunity to host state or national events. General Information
We are a small club of sailing enthusiasts of all ages. All classes sail here. New members ages 6 to 106* of all sailing skill levels are welcome to join us. Gold Coast Broadwater just off Paradise Point Esplanade is our playground.

Every sailor starts somewhere, and every step builds on the one before it. ⛵

At Paradise Point Sailing Club, our pathway gives young sailors a clear progression as they grow in skill and confidence on the water.

From Sunday Juniors through to Green Fleet, Youth Fleet Racing, local regattas and State Titles, each stage helps sailors learn more, gain experience and enjoy new challenges along the way.

A first sailing session covers more than most parents expect. ⛵

We start with the basics on shore, learning how to rig the boat and understand the equipment, then it’s out on the water to practise steering, balance and turning.

Capsize recovery is part of the fun too. It might sound a little daunting at first, but it often ends up being the part they’re most excited to tell you about afterwards.

Beginners sail with at least two students per boat and plenty of instructor guidance, so they can learn at their own pace, build confidence and enjoy being on the water from day one. 🌊

The summer calendar runs on volunteers, and we could use a few more. ⛵

Rigging, launching, canteen, race management and safety boat crew all need people. Training is provided for the on-water roles, every volunteer is covered under club insurance, and there's no minimum commitment.

Club boats are available for hire, safety gear is provided, qualified instructors run every session, and there's a safety boat on the water the whole time.

There’s something pretty special about watching our young sailors begin to become the people teaching the next generation.
At PPSC, our Junior Coaches aren't standing on the sidelines simply telling younger sailors what to do.

They're out there with them.
⛵ Demonstrating
💙 Encouraging
🌊 Building confidence
💪 Helping them learn to trust themselves on the water
😊 And showing them that sailing is supposed to be fun!

And perhaps the best part?
Many of these coaches were once the little sailors in those boats themselves.
They know what it feels like to be learning. They know what it's like when something finally clicks. And they know how much difference it can make when someone just a little further along believes you can do it.

That's how skills get passed on.
That's how confidence grows.
And that's how a sailing club becomes much more than somewhere you simply learn to sail.

Sunday Juniors runs to 12 knots, Green Fleet and Youth Fleet Racing to 16. If it's over, we either cancel or move onto drills on shore.

⛵ THERE’S ALWAYS A NEXT STEP AT PPSC 💙
One of the best things about learning to sail is that there is always something new to learn.

At Paradise Point Sailing Club, our Sunday sailing isn't about getting someone into a boat once and sending them on their way.

It's about helping sailors build skills, confidence and independence over time. 🌊
For some of our youngest sailors, that might mean learning how to rig a boat, steer confidently or simply becoming comfortable out on the water.

Then comes the next challenge.
Learning to read the conditions.
Making decisions independently.
Improving boat handling.
Understanding racing.
And eventually becoming the sailor helping someone else find their feet. 💙

That's why our Sundays cater for different ages and stages:
⛵ Juniors — ages 6–12
🕣 8:30am–10:00am
⛵ Intermediates
🕥 10:30am–12:00pm
⛵ Youth Fleet + Adults Racing
🕜 From 1:30pm
💰 $20 per session

Whether someone is taking their first steps into sailing or ready for their next challenge, there's room to keep learning and progressing at PPSC.

And sometimes, the kid who once needed help rigging their own boat becomes the person standing beside the next young sailor, helping them do exactly the same thing.

Our Junior Coaches Zach and TJ are living proof of that journey. Both started out as young sailors themselves, and most recently represented PPSC at the Zhik Youth Week Sailing Regatta in Yeppoon — while now also giving their time, experience and encouragement back to the next generation of sailors coming through our club. ⛵
That’s what progression at PPSC can look like.
