Meet Josh 👋

Josh has just completed his face-to-face Personal Training course with us in Perth, and it’s been so good to watch his growth over the past eight weeks.

From learning the foundations to stepping into the role of a professional Personal Trainer, Josh has come a long way. His confidence, knowledge and passion for training have continued to grow throughout the course, and we’re excited to see where he takes it next.

We back Josh 100% as he starts working with clients, builds his experience and continues doing what he loves in the gym.

Congratulations, Josh! You took on the challenge, put in the work and should be incredibly proud of yourself. 💪

To learn more about our next face-to-face intakes, send us a DM or visit the link in our bio 😇

Do you know the three ways a muscle contracts?💪

This is what you learn with Fitness Institute.

Here is the part most people never think about. You use all three in a
single bicep curl.

Concentric. The muscle shortens while it works. This is the lifting
part, curling the weight up toward your shoulder. The two ends of the
muscle pull closer together.

Eccentric. The muscle lengthens while it is still working. This is the
lowering part, bringing the weight back down under control instead of
letting it drop. The two ends move apart while the muscle is still
taking the load.

Isometric. The muscle works but nothing moves. Stop halfway through the
curl and hold the weight there. Your arm is not going anywhere, and your
muscle is still working hard.

Concentric and eccentric are both isotonic, which just means the muscle
changes length while it is working. Isometric sits on its own, because
the length never changes.

Why it matters. The lowering phase is the one most people rush, and it
is where a lot of the strength work actually happens. Slow it down and
the same weight feels completely different.

Do you know the difference between muscle fibres?

This is what you learn with Fitness Institute💪

Your muscles are not all built the same. You have three types of muscle
fibre, and each one is better at a different job.

Slow twitch, type 1. These are your stayers. They are full of the bits
that turn oxygen into energy, so they keep going for a long time without
tiring. They do the work in a long run, a big walk or a steady ride.

Fast twitch, type 2a. The middle child. It can work with oxygen like a
slow twitch fibre, or without it like a fast one, so it handles effort
that is hard but not flat out. Think a hill, a fast lap or a circuit
class.

Fast twitch, type 2b. Your sprinters. They fire hard and fast, they do
not use oxygen to do it, and they tire quickly. These are the fibres
behind a heavy lift or a sprint for the bus.

So can you change yours? You are born with a rough mix, and training
nudges it. Lots of endurance work makes your fibres behave more like
stayers. Strength and power work makes them behave more like sprinters.

It is also why two people can do the exact same program and get very
different results.

Save this one, and DM us "INTAKE" for course dates🤩
