Gold Coast Judo Academy

Two new blackbelts presented last night.

Kunihisi Sato graded to shodan end of last year at the end of year south east grading session. He has been a student with us the last 5+ years as a brown belt and was finally presented his Judo Australia ratification.

AJ squires graded to shodan following the kodokan coaching course in March at the Kodokan where he was assessed and confirmed in June by the board he had been approved. AJ started training with me back in 2011, so it has been a long time coming.

I was also privileged to award my BJJ professor J***s Dee his 3rd kyu (green belt) last night. He has truly embraced the judo syllabus and impressed his assessor’s with his dedication to the art.

Good to see Sensei Shane getting some downtime and randori after a busy couple weeks with the nationals too!

A big week leading into the nationals this week at the gold coast.

- there will be no scheduled classes this Monday night due to community night (first Monday of each week) this is an open mat at 5pm
- Neil Adams is going to be in Brisbane all week at ohori. 7-830. Please register interest if going and make sure your judo qld membership is current
- class at 5pm on Thursday at Burleigh is open to all visitors here for the nationals.

Last night's class was a good one. It's fantastic to see so many passionate BJJ guys thriving on the judo mat.
Whether you're looking to join or dust off your old skills, everyone is invited – we welcome all levels to train with us.

Tim and AJ have just completed a week at the Kodokan, completing the Kodokan International Judo Seminar for judo coaching principles.

We are looking forward to returning to Australia and sharing the knowledge we have gained.
