Stefan Racing and Willow at the finish line with Stefan’s jib split in two

After 630 miles of ocean racing (more so match racing) including 40knts of breeze coming into Tasman light at 4am this morning with boats speeds of up to 30 plus knots down waves cumulating in two and three feet of water over the deck.
Stefan Racing entered the Derwent River at 7am just 500m in front of Willow and not far back Alive and as they say the race begins again. We fell into a hole and willow was two boats lengths abeam with less than a mile to finish.
Then we were both hit with another 30plus knots of breeze and coming into the final 200 m lay line for the finish with only 200m to sail we tacked in front of willow which would have seen Stefan Racing fifth over the line and first boat not being a 100fter.
Well the Sydney to Hobart never lets you off easily, as we tacked the J3 split in half and Willow beat us by just over minute.
Regardless of the outcome it is a great race and we had a great time.

Sitting in 5th place behind the the four 100,s about 47 mile east Ulladulla. A2 and J4 up comfortably on 17- 20knts boat speed .
Expect conditions to freshen by early tomorrow morning heading into Bass Strait.

After a big year in Radio Yachts cumulated with the IOM world championships in Croatia. Time to stand on the boat and use a wheel instead of a transmitter toggle and head of to do Sydney to Hobart on Grant Warringtons 80ft Stefan Racing.
With the current forcast of strong northerly breeze we should be finished under two days which is nice and quick for 600 miles and will beat the southerly that is coming through
Best thing is doing the race with my son who is the crew boss and our second race together

1st Olivier Cohen FRA 100 Venti
2nd Alexis Carre FRA 73 V11
3rd Zvonco CRO 35 K2
Australian team results
Paul Jones 10th, finished in A fleet
Sean Wallis 15th,finished in B fleet
Greg Torpy 26th ,finished in A fleet
Doug Allen 36th, finished in B fleet
Barry Donahar 50th finished in E Fleet
Gary Mcarthy after a good run from E fleet to just missing out on B fleet in 52nd
Into C and B rigs today with rain to finish the regatta

Day 5 IOM Worlds Croatia
Very light with B fleet stating and only managed to complete one full heat with A fleet first up tomorrow .
Aussies have a now a full spread across the fleets
Jones AUS 48 and Torpy AUS 125 are still in A fleet with a 5th and 6th respectively.
Sean Wallis AUS 171 sailed a great B race to get into A and even though relegated back to B he just missed by one place to return to A fleet.
Doug Alllen AUS has remained in C fleet with Barry AUS 127 in Fleet and Garry McCarthy AUS 18 winning E fleet this morning just for pipped for relegation and will start tomorrow in E fleet.
Tomorrow’s forecast is for rain and 25knts plus with A fleet first up on Bravo course so will be great viewing on the live stream.
