Tough race that Hobart…….take these Bass Straight crossings every day of the week

After 630 miles of ocean racing (more so match racing) including 40knts of breeze coming into Tasman light at 4am this morning with boats speeds of up to 30 plus knots down waves cumulating in two and three feet of water over the deck.

Stefan Racing entered the Derwent River at 7am just 500m in front of Willow and not far back Alive and as they say the race begins again. We fell into a hole and willow was two boats lengths abeam with less than a mile to finish.

Then we were both hit with another 30plus knots of breeze and coming into the final 200 m lay line for the finish with only 200m to sail we tacked in front of willow which would have seen Stefan Racing fifth over the line and first boat not being a 100fter.

Well the Sydney to Hobart never lets you off easily, as we tacked the J3 split in half and Willow beat us by just over minute.
Regardless of the outcome it is a great race and we had a great time.

Sitting in 5th place behind the the four 100,s about 47 mile east Ulladulla. A2 and J4 up comfortably on 17- 20knts boat speed .
Expect conditions to freshen by early tomorrow morning heading into Bass Strait.
