Saturday is Derby Day at Kippen Park as our Metro Men and Women take on near neighbours Ipswich Knights.

At 4pm our Division 6 Men look to maintain their position at the top of the table when they take on a Knights side pushing for the top 4 after consecutive wins over Mooroondu and Bethania. Last time out Spirit won 3-2 at Southside Eagles thanks to goals from Ricardo, Praveen and the division's leading scorer Brendan. Spirit won when the sides met earlier in the season, starting a run of 7 consecutive wins.

Our Division 2 Women caused a cupset on Wednesday night winning 3-0 at Division One side Westside Grovely in the Metro League Cup. Goals fron Liv, Georgia and Brandee earning us place in the Round of 16 against Grange Thistle. Like our Metro Men the girls sit on top of the ladder, they're unbeaten in 8 league games, which includes a 2-1 win at Knights in Round One. Kick off at 6pm.

On Sunday, Spirit make the trip to Compton Park to face Logan Metro in Round 13 FQPL action. Metro unveiled their brand‑new clubhouse only last weekend, a day that saw league leaders Ripley Valley leave with a 4–1 win. That result continued a difficult run for Metro, who have managed just one victory in their past six matches and now sit sixth on the ladder with five wins from twelve.

The sides produced a nine‑goal thriller when they met earlier in the season, Metro edging a 5–4 result thanks to two late goals and a hat‑trick from their leading scorer Silvio Bustamante, who has 11 for the campaign. Spirit’s last outing was also against Ripley Valley, a fiercely contested derby that finished 4–3, leaving us in ninth and focused on building the momentum we need to climb the ladder.

In the Under 23s, Metro hold eighth place, three points ahead of Spirit, and both teams arrive in good form after recent positive results. Their Round 2 clash finished 4–4, part of a remarkable 17 goals shared across the two grades that weekend. Here’s hoping Sunday delivers the same level of entertainment.

🐝 Match Report – 30th May 2026 🐝

The Wasps took on Lions U7 Red Lions and put in another fantastic team performance! 💛⚽

The team showed great determination throughout the game, with plenty of effort, teamwork and encouragement for one another. It was wonderful to see the players supporting each other and continuing to build their confidence on the field.

A big congratulations to our Player of the Match! 🌟
She worked hard from start to finish, chased the ball with determination and never gave up. Her effort and enthusiasm throughout the game were fantastic to see, and to top it off she scored an amazing goal from midfield! 👏

Take 2 for Womens Metro League Cup action after last week's washout.

Tomorrow night our Metro Women will be looking to carry their impressive league form into the Metro League Cup as they travel to Division One side Westside Grovely.

Spirit sits top of Division 2 unbeaten this season with seven wins, built on a solid defence that has conceded just 7 goals. Saturday night's 1-1 draw on a difficult surface at neighbours Springfield were their first dropped points of the season.

Our hosts Westside are having a difficult campaign, an opening day win at Brighton remains their only victory of the season. Following Sunday's 5-2 home loss to North Brisbane they currently sit bottom of the Div 1 ladder. However cup football gives teams a chance to reset, and Westside as the higher‑division side will be keen to ignite their season.

The weather gods have spoken, no rain clouds in sight,
So everyone at Spirit put on your boots and play from day to night.

Masters kick us off on Friday, O35s and O45s on the run,
Right after our tiniest Squirts, aged three to five, begin the fun.

Saturday at Kippen bursts with laughter, effort, cheers that never end,
MiniRoos everywhere, Stingers, Cobras, Wombats, Bilbies, every team a friend.

Then it’s double trouble for the Knights as our Metro teams hit the pitch,
Wingy’s Bar and Canteen open all day, serving snacks without a hitch.

Sunday sends our FQPL squads to Logan Metro’s shiny new domain,

After the weekend washout the forecast looks positive for the week ahead!

Training recommences on Monday, midweek action sees our Metro Women head to Westside Grovely on Wednesday in the Metro League Cup. Can't get to the game, why not head to Walking Football resumes on Wednesday at Dale Rd, 6-7pm.

Masters Friday night double header at Dale Rd, with Mt Gravatt Hawks and Mooroondu providing the opposition. Bar & Canteen open.

Saturday miniroos action at Kippen is followed by our Under 14 Div 4 team playing Redland City, and then a local derby double header as our table topping Meto teams Men Div 6 and then Women Div 2 host Ipswich Knights from 4pm.

Unfortunately our fields have not dried sufficiently and are still very wet in parts, therefore with the guidance of Ipswich City Council our fields remain closed tonight and tomorrow.

All scheduled home games on Saturday including MiniRoos, Senior Metro and FQPL are cancelled. Squirts at Dale Road tonight is also cancelled 😔
