Ian Slape Appointed Assistant Director of Football (Female) ⚽

Western Spirit is delighted to announce the appointment of Ian Slape as Assistant Director of Football (Female). Since joining Spirit last year, Ian has made an immediate impact, guiding our Metro Women's team to an outstanding second-place finish in Division 2. His passion for player development and commitment to the women's game make him the ideal person to help lead the next chapter of our female football program.

What began just three years ago with one female team has grown into one of Western Spirit's most significant recent success stories. Following a long absence from the club, the female program has flourished and is set to field seven teams in 2027. The program's success has been recognised through Football Australia's 2-Star Game Changer accreditation and has created new opportunities for girls and women both on and off the field, including a growing number of female coaches, team managers, and club referees.

Ian's appointment reinforces our commitment to the continued growth of female football and our long-term vision of achieving 50/50 gender inclusion across the club.

Let's Go Spirit 💙💛

⚽WOMENS TRIALS START TOMORROW ⚽

Western Spirit continues to strengthen its Senior Women’s program after finishing as Metro Division 2 runners‑up, with our sights now firmly set on competing in Division 1 for the 2027 season. To support this progression, we are seeking driven, determined and team‑focused players ready to contribute to a growing senior environment, and to come and join the fun at Spirit, Football Queensland’s Community Club of the Year.

We are also accepting Expressions of Interest for our Division 6 Metro Women and our newly formed Legends Women’s team, both offering a more social and enjoyable football experience while still valuing commitment and dedication.

Senior Women’s Trials will commence Wednesday 21 October at Kippen Park, Goodna, running every Wednesday for six weeks through to 25 November. All sessions begin at 6:45pm (arrive by 6:30pm to register)

Despite the grey skies, our MiniRoos Presentation Day on Sunday was a huge success, with a fantastic turnout of players, families and supporters coming together to celebrate another wonderful season.

Our young footballers were all smiles as they received their trophies, recognising their effort, development and love of the game throughout the year. Off the pitch, there was plenty of fun to keep everyone entertained, with jumping castles, a climbing wall, games truck, and plenty of food and drinks helping create a great community atmosphere.

A massive thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the day so special. Most importantly, thank you to our incredible volunteers whose hard work behind the scenes ensured everything ran smoothly. Events like these simply would not happen without your dedication and commitment to our club.

We are proud of all our MiniRoos players and grateful for the amazing families who make our football community such a special place.

Enjoy the break, stay safe, and we can't wait to see you all back on the pitch in 2027! ⚽ 💛💙

⚽ SPIRIT CHARITY MATCH — YEAR 3: EVERYTHING ON THE LINE! ⚽

If there’s one fixture on the Spirit calendar that guarantees chaos, bragging rights and questionable decision‑making… it’s the Spirit Charity Match.

Sia’s team took out Year 1. 2025 was the year of that hailstorm (yes, our cars have finally been repaired) and Scott’s team levelled the series. They're locked at 1-1...who jumps into the lead?

All 2026 Senior players are eligible: QPL, Metro Men, Metro Women, Masters.
Arrive by 4pm for team selection; also known as “Sia and Scott drafting like it’s the Premier League transfer window.”

We’re raising money for the Packed With Care Foundation, Spirit’s charity partner supporting vulnerable families with essential care packs. Every player must donate minimum $5 to play, more if you plan on arguing with the ref.

Any queries? Sia or Jodie have you covered.

Saturday 17 October - 5pm - Kippen Park, Goodna
