Ruby at the 2026 Australian Trials

In just four days’ time, Ruby will take to the blocks at the 2026 Australian Swimming Trials, an exciting milestone and a reward for her dedication, commitment, and hard work throughout the season. Competing against some of Australia’s best swimmers is a fantastic achievement in itself and an opportunity to gain valuable experience at the highest level. As she prepares for the meet, the focus is on trusting her training, enjoying the moment, and embracing the challenge ahead. The most important thing is for Ruby to race fast, give her absolute best in every event, and leave the pool knowing she has given everything she has. No matter the results, qualifying for and competing at the Australian Trials is something to be incredibly proud of, and we wish her every success in the days ahead. πŸŠβ€β™€οΈπŸ‡¦πŸ‡Ί

Pattern recognition...

One 'bad' meet or 'disappointing' season can change the outlook of an entire family.

The swimmer is quiet on the way home.
Parents replay races in their head.
Everyone is wondering if something has changed.

The growing confidence suddenly feels fragile.
Training gets questioned and progress is no longer certain.

This is where perspective matters.

In swimming, one difficult meet can emotionally distort everything around it.

A swimmer who was progressing well two weeks ago does not suddenly stop developing because of one bad session, one missed cut or one difficult weekend.

Children fluctuate.
Motivation, Confidence and performance all fluctuate.

Especially during long seasons filled with growth and pressures.

This is exactly why pattern recognition matters.

Calm parents learn not to treat every difficult moment like a defining moment.

They zoom out first.
They observe patterns over time.
And they resist making emotional decisions from temporary setbacks.

Because sometimes...
What feels like a major crisis is simply a normal phase
Of development passing through.

For the journey...

A big thank you to for welcoming our Bundamba squads back last week while underwent repairs!

We’re incredibly grateful for the support, flexibility and kindness shown by the Goodna team in fitting our swimmers into an already busy schedule. It was fantastic to have both squads training at the same location again!

Thank you for helping us keep our swimmers in the water and our training moving forward, we truly appreciate it! πŸ™Œ

Last weekend we had a small crew of swimmers compete at the Twilight Stroke Showcase Meet and the SC Meet πŸ’™

Across the weekend we saw some great PB’s, a return from injury and athletes stepping up to take on new and challenging events. It was fantastic to see everyone racing with confidence and determination throughout the weekend.

Congratulations to all of our swimmers on a great weekend of racing, and a big thank you to for supporting and encouraging our team poolside πŸ‘

πŸ’« NATIONAL SPOTLIGHT πŸ’«

Over the past several weeks we have celebrated the achievements of our swimmers at the Australian Age Championships, but we also want to take a moment to recognise the person who plays such a big part in those achievements year-round, Coach Steve.

The time, care, and commitment you give to every swimmer at Woogaroo Swim Club does not go unnoticed. From early mornings and long afternoons to the constant support, guidance, and encouragement you provide, your impact reaches far beyond results in the pool.

Thank you for everything you do to help our athletes grow in confidence, improve as swimmers, and enjoy being part of our club. We’re incredibly appreciative of the passion and energy you bring to our swimmers and our club. Thank you Steve! πŸ‘πŸ’™
