One very useful info to have at the start of an exercise program is your body’s metrics – know exactly what your body’s content for muscle, fat and bone is. Recheck in say 3 months later to see if your program worked.
·
If it worked, good for you – continue…
·
If it did not, adjust your training & diet – speak to an experienced PT or athlete for some insights into training. Speak to a dietitian. Educate yourself, and adjust.
·
The DEXA body scanner (Dual Energy X-ray Absorptiometry) measures fat, lean muscle and bone density to 99% accuracy. It is safe as the x-rays used are less than our daily exposure from natural radiation.
·
You whole body is scanned in a few minutes and you get a detailed body composition report on how much muscle, fat and bone you have, and where fat is distributed. These are important factors to prevent sarcopenia, osteoporosis and heart / health problems.

An Altitude Gym member contacted us some time ago about an epic trip that he wants to do to Everest Base Camp. He was in reasonable shape but needed the reassurance that he’ll able to complete his trip without issues from the altitude but at the same time challenging enough that he’ll ‘earn’ it. We suggested him to solo it over the Three High Passes.
He trained hard following our advice, and we gave him all the info he needed to plan and dress appropriately, with the option to call us directly at any time (when there’s reception of course) if he gets in any sort of strife while on his trip.
Here’s Ian having crossed Renjo La on his way to EBC via Cho-la and then across Kongma-la, having the time of his life with superb weather on his side.
All the best to Ian… takes some courage to solo this trip without Sherpa support, but totally doable with the right training and info.
Contact us if you’re keen to join a fully supported trip… or grow some 😜 and solo it. Either way, you’ll have the time of your life. Call, text or email us. We’re here to make your dream a reality.
Aconcagua 360 is a 110km trail in Argentina, and here is Mia Farrow training to beat the world record to be the fastest female to run this route. She will climb Aconcagua first (6,961m asl) - this is the highest peak in South America. She has been working hard and spending hours in The Altitude Gym (that’s why she has hot legs 😍), travelling all the way up to the Coast from Sydney for this. We wish Mia safe travels and success in achieving her goals 💪💪💪💃💃💃

We’ve finally fixed a software upgrade issue and altitude is back on.
Target 12% oxygen (4,709m).
Machine is pumping 10.9%.
Come and die… give the compressor an hour or so. We’re only at 1,000m now.

We're back online! Our compressor is back up and running normally. Apologies for the inconvenience.
Attention members:
Due to internet connection issues, the compressor in the Altitude Gym is currently not functioning. We're working as quickly as we can to get it back online.
The gym is still open.
Apologies for the inconvenience.
