Granville Pool's new filtered water bubbler will be a welcome addition to the facility, particularly with the warmer months approaching. Our thanks to Cumberland City Council for arranging its installation

Those who have been around the pool for many years may remember some of the previous bubblers, including the old red cast-iron bubbler near the deep end of the 50m pool and the chilled water bubbler just inside the entrance to the men's change rooms. A small part of the pool's history that many long-time patrons will remember fondly. πŸ’§πŸŠβ€β™€οΈβ˜€οΈ

πŸ’™πŸ’› What an Amazing Club! πŸŠβ€β™€οΈπŸŠβ€β™‚οΈ

Not many organisations would even consider hosting, let alone fully catering, a FREE event for 160 people. Yet that's exactly what Parramatta City Swim Club achieved during our wonderful 75th Anniversary celebrations last weekend.

Behind the scenes, an incredible team of volunteers worked tirelessly to make the event a success. From setting up and packing away hundreds of items, preparing displays and presentations, cooking and serving food, welcoming past members, and ensuring everyone felt at home, there was no shortage of tasks to be completed.

Despite a to-do list that seemed never-ending, everything ran smoothly thanks to careful planning, teamwork, and the willingness of so many people to roll up their sleeves and help wherever needed.

The evening was a true reflection of what makes our Club so special: a community of dedicated volunteers who generously give their time and energy for others.

A huge thank you to everyone who contributed. The success of the celebration was only possible because of your efforts.

What an amazing club, and what an incredible group of people! πŸ’™πŸ’›πŸ‘

πŸŠβ€β™‚οΈπŸ’™πŸ’› A Journey Through 75 Years of History

As part of our 75th Anniversary celebrations, Parramatta City Swim Club proudly showcased a selection of historical records, photographs, trophies, programs, and newspaper articles from the Club's extensive archives.

Choosing what to display was no easy task, with so many fascinating pieces reflecting the Club's rich and proud history. Guests enjoyed searching for their names on perpetual trophies, browsing swimmers' record sheets, and exploring club minutes spanning more than 75 years.

Among the standout items on display were the official program from the 1948 Olympic Swimming Trials, held at Granville Pool, and a collection of trophies won by Olympic champion John Devitt during the 1940s.

The display provided a wonderful opportunity for members and visitors alike to reflect on the generations of swimmers, volunteers, and families who have helped shape Parramatta City Swim Club into the community institution it is today.

A special thank you to everyone who contributed to preserving and sharing these treasured pieces of our Club's history. πŸ†πŸ“–πŸŠβ€β™€οΈ

Celebrating 75 Years of Parramatta City Swim Club

On Saturday, 17 October, more than 160 past and present members, families, and friends of Parramatta City Swim Club came together to celebrate the Club's 75th Anniversary.

The occasion featured inspiring speeches from Alison Podnar (Horlyck), Club President Theo Kitsos, Member for Granville Julia Finn MP, Boys Club Captain Liam Bain, and 1950-60 members Colleen Pettiford and Len Griffiths.

Their stories provided a wonderful insight into the rich history of the Club and highlighted the vital role Parramatta City Swim Club has played in the local community over the past 75 years.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate this remarkable milestone and honour the generations of members who have helped shape the Club's proud legacy. πŸŠπŸ’™πŸ’›

As part of our 75th Anniversary celebrations, we hosted a special carnival on the morning of 17 October, giving our swimmers the perfect opportunity to gain valuable race experience ahead of the upcoming summer season.

The carnival was not only a great chance to sharpen racing skills, but also an opportunity for swimmers to take home a commemorative medal and be part of this significant milestone in our club's history.

A huge thank you to all swimmers, officials, volunteers, and families who helped make the morning such a success. It was wonderful to see so many members celebrating 75 years of swimming excellence, friendship, and community.

A Special Message from Barry Vines

Unfortunately, Barry Vines, our much-loved long-serving Pool Attendant and Superintendent at Granville Pool, was unable to join us for the Club's 75th Anniversary Celebration last night.

Barry began working at Granville Pool in 1956 and served as Superintendent from 1977 until his retirement in May 1997. Over more than four decades, Barry became a familiar and respected figure at the pool, supporting generations of swimmers and helping the club thrive.

In recognition of his outstanding service and friendship to the club over many years, two of our perpetual trophies proudly bear Barry's name.

Barry has asked that we pass on his best wishes to everyone and says he hopes to visit Granville Pool soon to catch up with his many friends at the club.

Thank you, Barry, for your dedication, support, and the lasting legacy you have left at Parramatta City Swim Club. πŸ’™πŸ’›πŸŠβ€β™‚οΈπŸŠβ€β™€οΈ

Lifesaving fins… amazing in the water, a nightmare on land!
They’re awkward to store, easy to damage, and not exactly cheap. So what do you do when your club has 16 pairs for members to use?
You build another trolley to safely store them and make transport a whole lot easier. Problem solved, and everything neatly organised for the season ahead. Royal Life Saving - NSW ACT Tasmania Royal Life Saving Society - Australia
