🦁 PLAYER SIGNING — MASON NOTTING 🦁

On the back of some great coaching announcements, we are excited to announce our first player signing for the 2027 season — Mason Notting!

Mason is finally returning home after a stint with the Stawell Warriors in the Wimmera League, and we couldn’t be happier to welcome him back to the Lions.

Mason joins us as a key forward, bringing plenty of goal-kicking ability and a huge amount of potential. He comes off a remarkable 2026 season, where he led the Under 17s goal kicking and finished fourth in the league Best & Fairest.

For those who remember Mason, he certainly isn’t shy of senior football experience. Mason made his senior debut for Great Western as a 15-year-old in 2024, lining up as a high half forward and managing to slot three goals at Central Park on debut.

Now, after developing his game at Stawell, Mason is ready to return home and take the next step in his football.

We can’t wait to see him back in the lion colours in 2027.

We’re excited to announce that Shannon will join our coaching team as an Assistant Coach for the 2027 season!

A senior premiership player and life member of our club, Shannon brings a wealth of experience, having previously coached at both reserve and junior level.

Passionate about player development and boasting a sharp football brain, Shannon has a genuine desire to help our players improve and our developing squad continue to grow.

We can’t wait to see his knowledge, experience and passion put to great use as we continue building for the future.

We stand with our neighbours from Navarre Football Netball Club today as they heroically play in a number of Grand Final matches under incredibly challenging circumstances.

Our heart goes out to all their players, coaches, members, community connections, and most importantly, Zanaiya’s family and friends.

We are a close knit community in these parts, and tragic events such as this touch the hearts of all of us and remind us how connected we are.

Good luck today netballers. Some of us will be there in the crowd cheering you on 💛💚🤍

🔴🔵🟡 2027 COACHING ANNOUNCEMENT

🦁 WELCOME SCOTT DRISCOLL 🦁

The Great Western Football Netball Club is thrilled to announce Scott Driscoll as our Senior Playing Coach for the 2027 season.

Scott brings an impressive coaching, playing and leadership background, including senior coaching roles at St Arnaud and Jeparit Rainbow, as well as junior coaching and senior leadership experience at Modewarre and Lake Wendouree.

Scott is no stranger to the Great Western Football Club, having pulled on the Lions jumper for a memorable one-off appearance back in 2015.

Those who were there will remember Scott playing a starring role as Great Western produced a memorable upset over Lake Bolac, with Scott being named clearly best on ground.

Fast forward 11 years, and Scott is back at Great Western — this time ready to lead the Lions as Senior Playing Coach for the 2027 season. 🦁

A familiar face, a new chapter.

🗣️ Scott said:

“I’m really excited to join such a proud, family-oriented club that is determined to regain success. It’s an honour to have the opportunity to guide the playing group in 2027 and build on the foundations laid by Tom and Adam.”

We’re excited to welcome Scott and his family back to the Great Western Football Netball Club and look forward to working together as we build towards a successful 2027 season.
