What do BJMA Crosses Mean?
In BJMA, a Cross is not just an award — it is a symbol of trust, responsibility, and service.
Crosses are presented to individuals who consistently demonstrate the values of our organisation both on and off the mat. They recognise people who lead through action, show loyalty, integrity, humility, and who contribute to the growth and safety of our students and clubs.
Unlike belts, which represent personal technical progression, a Cross represents service to others. It acknowledges those who support instructors, help develop students, protect our culture, and strengthen the BJMA community as a whole.
Being awarded a Cross is not something that can be requested or expected. It is earned over time through behaviour, attitude, and commitment — often without the individual realising they are being watched.
Crosses remind us that rank alone does not define leadership. Character does.
We are proud of every member who upholds these values and helps carry BJMA forward for the next generation.
🥋 Respect. Loyalty. Service.
