🦅 LOCKED IN FOR 2027 - JIMBO AND FINCHY GO AGAIN FOR B’s & C’s 🦅

The boys are back in town, and they’re ready to get stuck into 2027 with the club. 🔐

With endorsement and support from the committee, we’re backing these boys in to help the club do big things amongst all grades next year, and we have no doubts they’ll do the club proud. Clubmen first and foremost making their transitions from playing to coaching, thanks Finchy and Jimbo 🫱🏻‍🫲🏼

🦅 MALE PLAYER OF THE YEAR: ANTHONY DAISH 🦅

What do we say about a man who’s done it all, achieved it all, seen it all. We’ll find the words somehow. A homecoming a long time in the making a few years ago, after a few years away, wanting to make himself back at home with his beautiful young family, and he’s done simply that. He’s made Hackham his second home (Nikki, he’s ALWAYS here, come get him please) and he’s made every person who walks through the doors at home with him. No one is unwelcome to sit with him for a b**r, he’s one of the first to contend at every contest, and his 2026 League Medal, and his Best and Fairest award are testament to his character. A history maker.

🦅 HAWK OF THE YEAR: JACOB DOHERTY 🦅

A legend amongst men. After moving over to the club from Mitchell Park in what seems like just yesterday, Jacob and his family have made and incredible impact of the club and everyone around him. He’s our 2026 Captain, our Player Representative and he’s lead with grace, strength and the passion we expect from a player with his talents. Jacob has exceeded expectations this year, from his continued efforts across the playing field, management of players and we couldn’t be prouder of him. A truly deserving bloke.

🦅 SFL VOLUNTEER AWARDS: COREY AND HAMISH THE FATHER SON DUO 🦅

Alright alright, we see where Hamish gets his Lucius locks from! Like Father, Like Son, (yes Hamish, he IS you father), both Corey and Hamish have been awarded volunteer awards from the Southern Football League - South Australia during 2026, for service with excellence and commitment. Where one is, the other is never far behind - whether it’s playing C Grade on a Saturday with water being run, or Junior games on a Sunday with his Dad coaching his boy to success. These two are the epitome of what we want our club to be; a family friendly environment that encourages success and rewards effort and passion for football and giving back to your community.

🦅 LIFE MEMBERSHIP: JASON CASTLEMAN 🦅

A stalwart of our club if we have ever seen one. This man needs little introduction, because everyone knows his signature ‘Howdy DooDee’ when he walks through the door like he’s home - and that’s because he is. Jason has delivered exemplary service over his time with us at the Hackham Football Club, in coaching, playing, volunteering and committee aspects, and managed to balance it all alongside of his commitments to the South Adelaide Football Club as their mascot Kingston. Jason was also awarded the Maxine McPherson Medal (Volunteer of the Year) from SAFC in 2026. A bloke who puts the club first, no matter the occasion. Top stuff.

🦅 EVA BLYTHMANN MEMORIAL AWARD: TEENA AND JOURDAN ‘THE KITCHEN CREW’ 🦅

We had a long hard think about this award as a committee, and whilst we truly have some wonderful volunteers, who give up their time every week, there’s just something special about these ladies! Teena and Jourdan not only give away their time for free to make sure we are all fed and watered on game day with their delicious canteen goodies, but they make sure every Thursday and Friday with their kitchen meals and organise everything in between to make sure it goes off without a hitch. Our lovely ladies have above and beyond this year, and we feel they are well and truly deserving of this award.

🦅 CLUB PERSON OF THE YEAR: WILL THOMPSON 🦅

This man needs no introduction around our club. A gentle giant among men, an incredibly positive influence on his teammates, and a soul that goes above and beyond for anyone and everyone. If you don’t see him playing, you’ll find him running water, boundary umpiring or supporting his girls at AusKick. Will has given back to his club this year tenfold, and we couldn’t think of anyone more deserving than Will to receive the Club Person of the Year award, and clearly his club mates agree.

AFL Nines is a fun, social version of football that’s suited to everyone, regardless of experience or skill level.

Played on a smaller oval with just nine players on the field per team, AFL Nines is a non contact format that keeps the game fast paced, free flowing and enjoyable while reducing the risk of injury.

Games consist of two 20 minute halves, making it the perfect way to stay active, have fun, and enjoy footy with friends.
So grab your mates, register a team, and get involved!

🦅 A GRADE BEST AND FAIREST RECIPIENTS 🦅

Here are our 2026 Best and Fairest and Runner Up Recipients for A Grade. These two blokes were voted by their teammates, and by their club, to be some of the most deserving players during the year. Best and Fairest is often a term thrown around, but when we look at what it truly means; to emulate passion, to lead with courage, to call out and teach better behaviour and to turn up during trying times, there’s no wonder why these two received their awards.

Rory O’Connell: A Grade Runner Up Best and Fairest.
A first year player for Hackham FC after making the transfer up the hill from Brighton, he’s a gem in the making. No task was too big for him, no opponent was too tough. A fine young gentleman who made sure to attack every play with courage and intent. He kicked goals, he took marks, he tapped to advantage and kept his feet, and his approach to the game under Wiz has improved by a country mile. 🫱🏻‍🫲🏼

Anthony Daish: A Grade Best and Fairest.
The vice captain. A leader. One of the blokes we look to when the times are tough, when we need to dig deep and get it done. His award speaks for itself, being awarded the 2026 RA Stennett League Medal for Division 7 of the Adelaide Footy League, along with being recognised as Hackham’s 2026 Male Player of the Year. A triple threat that puts his body on the line every week knowing every other bloke at the club has his back. Exceptional. The last time he was awarded a club BnF was in 2012-13 (we don’t have records that go back that far available to us) 🫱🏻‍🫲🏼
