Reflection:
Today I look back on a year of equilibrium.
365 days ago this week I completed my self-admitted participation in a twelve-month residential rehabilitation program in the outskirts of a place in Australia. Far from Europe, the US and everywhere else.
If that year was designed to dismantle the warped lens through which I viewed my life, it was successful. I traded a fractured perspective for a clear one, and the insight I gained remains my guidance today. I’m truly grateful.
Two years on after change, I can look back on the twelve years I spent navigating the aftermath of a near-fatal accident with the escapism of addiction, and breathe. Now recognising the profound shift in myself: The move from running against life to carefully re-crafting it. My time in treatment reconnected me to the reality I hadn’t truly been a part of since 2013. I’ve come to understand that self-actualization didn’t come from 'fixing' myself, but from accepting my capacity for failure and finally welcoming the parts of myself I was once choosing to not look at.
The strength I have was in the work I was avoiding.
Honestly accepting that the crash didn’t cost me everything - it was my refusal to adapt to my new reality that did. Years under the delusion that life would fix itself once I 'found myself' again. But that me is gone, and realising this allowed me to stop waiting for rescue and start taking accountability for the path I’m now on.
This path is fueled by positive wholistic outlook and a commitment to remain deeply connected to those who matter most. I enter this next chapter with a continual admiration of human connection and the power of patience. I’m in no rush to reach a finish line; I’m just grateful to finally be on the right trajectory to get there.
As I look toward the latter half of 2026, my objective is to bridge the gap between my past and my future. I aim to utilise my lived experience - not only as an Olympian, National Champion, and WorldTour professional - but by integrating my lived experience & specific capabilities I am finalising over the next six months. My mission is to translate these lessons into a platform that helps others better navigate their own journeys of resilience..
Looking forward
