🚨 Inspiring Story Alert 🚨
We are always inspired by what people can do, and by celebrating their achievements we hope you will be too!
This month’s inspiring story is 18 year old Bianca Adler, the youngest Australian in history to reach the summit of Mount Everest.
Bianca was forced to abandon her first climb attempt last year with only 400m to go due to frostbite concerns and severely dangerous weather conditions. But her perseverance, tenacity and relentlessness to achieve her goal saw Bianca complete the 65km trek to base camp and the physically and mentally grueling 20km climb to the peak, reaching an incredible elevation of 8848.86 meters above sea level, on May 20, 2026.
Bianca is a wonderful example of what can be achieved when we show determination, persistence and a desire to challenge our limits.

🧪🎓✏️Our July Science Snapshot:
A 5min Movement Break Can Reduce The Impact of Prolonged Sitting
A large study of more than 19,000 adults found that taking a simple 5-minute walking break every hour can help to counteract some of the negative effects of prolonged sitting. In this study, people who regularly got up and moved reported better mood, less fatigue, and more energy—without any drop in work productivity.
The takeaway is surprisingly simple: If you spend most of your day sitting, the evidence suggests that moving a little, often, may be more powerful than you think.
Some ideas to try may even be a walking lunch break or phone call with a loved one.

🧪🎓✏️Our June Science Snapshot:
High Intensity Exercise Can Suppress Breast Cancer Cell Growth
An interesting study published in 2025 looked at the effects of a single bout of resistance or high-intensity interval training on breast cancer cell growth rate.
Blood samples were taken from breast cancer survivors at rest, and following a single bout of exercise, and breast cancer specimens in vitro (in a test tube) were then placed in either the ‘resting blood’ or ‘exercise blood’.
Compared to the cells in the resting blood, growth was approximately 20-30% reduced with the exercise blood, suggesting that resistance training and high intensity interval training may suppress breast cancer cell growth.

Can you spare 1min to add your name to a petition for the removal of GST from Exercise Physiology services?
https://gst.good.do/.../axe-the-tax-on-essential-healthcare/
Exercise physiologists provide essential healthcare to people with chronic health issues, injuries and disabilities. Just like physios, dietitians and psychologists, we are university-educated allied health professionals recognised by Medicare and Private health insurers.
However, while those other healthcare services are GST-exempt, Exercise Physiology is not. This means services cost you more.

🚨 Inspiring Story Alert 🚨
With the sad news of his passing last month, we would like to highlight a truly inspiring human being, Neale Daniher.
After a very successful 35 year career playing and coaching AFL football, Neale was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) in 2013. MND is a degenerative condition of the nervous system with no current cure, with an average survival time of 2-4 years after diagnosis.
Since his diagnosis Neale has worked tirelessly to highlight the challenges for people living with MND, and through his charity work (Fight MND, the Big Freeze) has raised millions of dollars in funding for research into a cure. He was named 2025 Australian of the year for these efforts.
Despite the challenges of physical and cognitive decline, Neale was determined to stay active and to demonstrate to others that it is possible to keep fighting, even with a terminal illness.
