Focus on healing better, not faster 💛

I’ve had three babies via c-section, I’m a PT, yoga teacher and perinatal coach and yes, I love my jeans too!

It’s hard when we’re inundated with women bouncing back on social media, but focus on coming back even stronger. Y’all seen mums these days? They ain’t fu***ng around!

Save this for a ‘suggested’ timeline guide for your healing:

💫 0-3 months: lots of rest, rehabilitation, restoring the core and nurturing areas that seriously need our attention: the pelvic floor, incision (if cesarean birth), vaginal stitches, tears or prolapse, gut health and a lot of nervous system support.

💫 3-6 months: try to establish a routine that fits in with your newborn life (aka be flexible with the unpredictability) not just for your physical recovery but mental health too, so think: guided core work in naps, carrier walks at witching hour, good whole-food nutrition to support healing tissues and milk production.

💫 6-12 months: build back muscle and strength, practice nervous system regulation, take adaptogens to support months of broken sleep and try to prioritise protein and fibre.

💫 12-18 months: a more structured routine might be found now; follow a program that focuses on building back as much muscle as possible yet still prioritises postpartum core recovery. If you’re no longer breastfeeding, you might focus on fat loss and body composition, if that’s a goal for you.

Your timeline will be individual, but the principle remains the same for all of us: build the foundations before asking your body for more.

Rest > Rehab > Foundations > Rebuild > Come back better than ever.

You find an entirely new appreciation for your body after pregnancy and birth. There’s zero rush. In fact, the magic is in slowing down and doing it right from the beginning.

Save this post so you can refer to the timelines and if you want the entire first year of your postpartum recovery sorted, then join my Postnatal Program 🙏🏻

Silicone is one of the most evidence-supported topical treatments for improving the appearance and symptoms of scars.

Let’s go over the benefits of silicone:

✅ Flattens raised scars (Helps reduce the thickness and height of hypertrophic and some keloid scars)
✅ Softens hard, firm scar tissue, creating a softer-feeling scar.
✅ Reduces redness
✅ Improves scar colour
✅ Reduces itching
✅ Reduces discomfort and tenderness
✅ Improves hydration of the scar (Creates an occlusive layer that reduces water loss from the skin)
✅ Regulates collagen production (By preventing excessive collagen deposition, which contributes to thick, raised scars)
✅ Improves scar elasticity

✅ Great for symptomatic scars (like itching, burning or those with neuropathic pain.

For best results, silicone should be worn continuously in the first year. Sheets or tape provide more pressure and consistent coverage, so they’re great to use initially. But the key is daily, long-term use.

Having muscle mass has honestly made my life so much better.

I burn more fat, even at rest. This is because muscle is a metabolically active tissue, meaning it requires more energy to sustain itself.

1kg of muscle burns 10-20 calories per day, at rest.  Whereas fat burns roughly 4 calories per day.

Which doesn’t sound like a big difference, but if you gain 5kgs of muscle, you’re burning an extra 100 calories per day, AND:

- increasing your total daily energy expenditure (TDEE)
- allows you to train harder and heavier
- improves insulin sensitivity and glucose handling
- improves body composition because MORE lean tissue = LESS body fat.

Beyond these stats, more muscle just makes life better. I can do chores holding my whiney 11kg toddler without pain or struggle. I can throw my 5 year old high into the sky. I can Bulgarian split squat more than my husband (incredibly satisfying btw) and after three babies I can still do a bloody pull-up.

Falls after the age of 70:

- roughly 1 in 3 adults ages 65+ experience a fall each year.
- fall are the leading cause of injury-related hospitalisations in older adults.
- 10-20% of falls result in serious injury (such as fractures and head injuries)
- falls are the most common cause of hip fractures, which have MAJOR impact on a person mobility and independence.

F**k that. We start now. Spend your 30’s, 40’s and 50’s building as much strength and muscle as you can. I dare say it will be one of the greatest investments your 90 year old self will be eternally grateful for.

With my full blown rosacea on display 😏 Let me show you how quick training sessions at home can be.

24 minutes of Back & Arms while my husband unpacks the dishwasher, cleans up breaky and the kids tidy their toy room. I completed this Build Your Body 1.0 & 2.0 program before my third pregnancy and felt lean, fit, toned and honestly the best I’ve ever felt.

I’m so pumped to be doing it again. BYB kicks off MONDAY September 28th (tomorrow!!!) 12 weeks, four x 25 minute sessions per week, let’s go 👏🏻💪🏼

SIJ pain in pregnancy? 😩

Nobody wants to spend their pregnancy in pain. And SIJ discomfort can creep up on any of us. We don’t want to stop moving completely, we just have to go through trial and error to see what feels best on our changing body.

When your pelvis changes during pregnancy, everyday movements like walking, stairs, rolling in bed and standing on one leg can become unbearable.

A big part of managing SIJ pain is helping your body become better at transferring load through the pelvis. This is where the posterior oblique sling comes in.

Your posterior oblique sling is a diagonal connection between your:

🌟 Latissimus dorsi
🌟 Thoracolumbar fascia
🌟 Gluteus maximus

This system helps transfer force between your upper body, spine and pelvis, especially during movements like walking, stepping and single-leg activities.

When we train the posterior oblique sling, we can help:

✅ Improve load transfer through the pelvis
✅ Build strength through the glutes and posterior chain
✅ Support more efficient walking mechanics
✅ Improve confidence with single-leg movements
✅ Increase your capacity for everyday activities

For many women with SIJ pain, the goal isn’t to avoid movement or keep the pelvis completely still. It’s to help your body feel strong, supported and capable of handling the demands placed on it.

We do so much proactive and targeted work in my 9-month-long Prenatal Program to support or keep PGP away. If you have SIJ or tailbone pain outside of pregnancy, I have an entire series for this too 👏🏻

Save this post in case that pelvic pain comes knocking 😏

I was fully prepared that taking three kids solo to the zoo would be a mission.

An hour to get there, trying to score a park (I manifested hard and got a park right out the front 💫🤌🏻) and absolutely yolo’ing and going at Elsie’s nap time 🫣

When I unpacked the car & popped Elsie in the pram, I reminded the boys about sticking together, making sure mummy can see you at all times. And I mentioned that I don’t have daddy’s help today so let’s all help one another to make today enjoyable.

Those boys seriously got the mission. Not meltdowns. Charlie pushed the pram nearly the entire day and didn’t let Elsie out of his sight. Jack was sweet 100% of the time which, as the biggest cutie he is, is almost unheard of 😂

As a first time mum I would have NEVER gone out during my toddlers ONLY nap time. And for a lil gal who sleeps 2-3 hours for her nap, she was like “nap time, never heard of her”. She nailed it. 2/3 kids promptly fell asleep on the drive home and it was just one of those days where you feel like all the hard work you put into their behaviour really paid off.

Because we had a really bloody nice time 🥹🤍
