Charlie turned 5 earlier this month, and today on my 37th birthday we got to celebrate together. Pirate flags, chocolate cake, and a crew of little legends made it unforgettable.

I could never sell this car this car has been a absolute trooper it may be old it may have 206,000km on it it could do with some TLC but even with its less than perfect servicing record and less than professional repairs it dose not let me down

Tiny feet, soft as dawn,
Charlie Crawls across the lawn.
Eyes wide, taking in colours
Charlie babbles, wordless Joy.

From stumble from fall,
To up again, standing tall.
Toddlers giggles fill the room,
Chasing toys, building blocks.

Years swirl by like whispered streams,
Charlie weaves his playful dreams.
Building castles in the sand,
Learning deep, learning fast.

But soon, your little hand let go
As time demands the winds must change.
School days fade, and then you glide
On teenage waves, even more wide-eyed.

Now fully grown, with wisdom and conviction,
Charlie faces the world, no need to hide.
Boxes packed with memories of past,
Echoes of laughter, I stand silent and sad

The door he leaves, once so small,
Now looms tall as he looks our
A beer a tear, a knowing glance,
In that moment, one last hug.

For though he’s gone, he still remains,
In every heartbeat, every bink
From baby to adult, i did my job
Yet in my heart, a baby still.
