Henley Sharks Junior Football

A massive congratulations to our Henley Sharks U12 Div 1 players Hudson Thaller and Zack Wachowicz, who recently pulled on the SA guernsey at the National Championships in Canberra!

After two close losses to open the competition, the SA boys won their next three games and proving they were right up there with the best teams. They pushed undefeated Victoria right to the end, recording the closest final margin against Victoria of any team at the championships! 👏

Even more special, the SA team was awarded the Richard Newman Shield for fair play and sportsmanship. 🏆 The shield is awarded to just one team each year and, in its 15-year history, SA had only won it once before — making this year's team just the second South Australian side to receive the honour. What an achievement!

Both Hudson and Zack had outstanding tournaments and were recognised among SA's best players across multiple games.

⚡ Hudson had a huge impact throughout the tournament, including an incredible six-goal game and another four-goal haul later in the week.

💪 Zack was outstanding all over the ground, playing hard, consistent football and delivering strong performances throughout the championships.

A fantastic achievement for both boys and a very proud moment for the Henley Sharks! 🦈

What an incredible achievement for the SA Under 12 Girls team, taking out gold at the National Championships in Canberra last weekend!🥇

We’re especially proud of our very own Rose Rugari from the Henley Sharks Under 12 Division 1 team, who represented South Australia at the carnival. 🦈🤍💙

SA went into the final game undefeated, alongside Victoria, setting up a huge final clash. It was a gritty, hard-fought battle, but the SA girls refused to give up and got the job done to take out the entire competition! 👏🔥

Rose played predominantly in the forward line throughout the carnival, with some time through the midfield, and was named one of SA’s best players in Game 5 against NSW. ⭐

Congratulations Rose and the entire SA Under 12 Girls team on an outstanding carnival! We’re so proud of you! 🥇🏆

🏉 What a fantastic turnout! Over 70 female juniors joined us for our U8–U14G Crows Clinic as part of the Marinoff & Maddi’s Midfielder Program. 💙❤️💛

The girls also received special tickets to the Crows AFLW R3 clash against the West Coast Eagles, giving them an amazing opportunity to be part of the in-field activities and experience AFLW footy in action!

A huge thank you to all the parents for bringing the girls along and supporting this fantastic opportunity. We hope every girl had an absolute blast!

Congratulations to our under 14 state representatives Cooper Povey, Lucas Povey and Eli Lawson on an outstanding National Championships! 🦈💙

After a heartbreaking 4-point opening loss to WA, the SA boys responded brilliantly with convincing wins over QLD and VIC White.

The SA boys finished equal first on wins and well clear on percentage, only missing top spot in their pool on a head-to-head countback.

In the finals, they pushed the No. 1 seeded VIC Navy all the way before falling by just a few goals, then bounced back in style to dominate NSW and claim the 🥉 bronze medal.

Special congratulations to:�⭐ Cooper – Best on Ground in the bronze medal game and selected in the All Australian Team.�⭐ Eli – Selected in the All Australian Team.�⭐ Lucas – Outstanding through the midfield and unlucky to miss All Australian selection.

Congratulations to our Sharks Under 14 - state representatives Grace Burton, Amari Cummings and Chloe Mildren on an outstanding National Championships campaign!

Across five games in six days, the team recorded a draw with Queensland and impressive wins over Tasmania, the ACT and Western Australia, along with a heartbreaking one-point loss to Victoria. Despite an excellent win/loss record, the pool format saw them finish in 5th place.

A huge congratulations to our girls on their individual performances:

💙 Grace Burton was outstanding on the wing, covering the ground with her trademark work rate and endurance.
💙 Amari Cummings made a strong impact in the ruck and also contributed up forward.
💙 Chloe Mildren showcased her versatility, playing across the midfield, wing, forward and back throughout the carnival.

We are incredibly proud of Grace, Amari and Chloe for representing our state with skill, determination and sportsmanship.
