Condition: Minimal Use

Anyone need a floor pump to pump up their tyres. This type of pump is a much easier method than a hand held pump.

My other business "Adelaide Bike Hire" is selling all floor pumps that were supplied with indoor trainers for hotel quarantine hire. The floor pumps were never actually used by customers in quarantine so they are in great working order, but a couple of them may have a slight scratch due to transporting them. They have served their short term purpose and now it's time to move them on so we can focus on our premium bike hire service that we provide to keen cyclists visiting our great city of Adelaide.

SORRY, BUT PERMANENTLY CLOSED NOW

After months of being temporarily closed, I have decided to pull the pin and permanently close Spoke & Pedal bike repairs here in Henley Beach.

The last seven years has been an amazing journey repairing bikes. It initially started as a little weekend hobby looking after family and friends bikes, and over time it turned into a full time business. On some days it got that busy that there was a queue of people out the door.

Over this time I have enjoyed servicing everyone's bikes and getting to know you all. Looking back I have got to work on some very expensive bikes, that I was afraid to touch, through to some old worn out death traps that should have been thrown away years ago. I also have been humbled by the great customer reviews and the recommendations you have passed onto your friends. It felt as though we were part of a little bike repair community.

So why am I closing?

A quick answer is that my work/life balance has been out of whack for the last few years, and I need to make some changes to bring it back. It wasn't uncommon for me to work all day until 11pm, which isn’t something I want to do in my semi-retirement.

The increased workload was not only due to bike repairs, but also my Adelaide Bike Hire business that I created a few years ago, which supplies premium carbon road bikes, flat handlebar bikes, and e-bikes to the accommodation of keen cyclists visiting Adelaide from interstate or overseas.

After a lot of thought, out of the two businesses, I have decided to close the bike repair business and look forward to continuing with just the bike hire business.

It was nice meeting you all, and I hope you understand the reason for closing the business.

Thank you!

CHECKS WHEN BUYING A USED BIKE

I have put together a short video to guide you through some simple mechanical checks you should be doing if you are looking at purchasing a second hand bike.

I see a lot of second hand bikes come through that end up needing a lot of costly repairs so do these simple checks to avoid falling into that trap.

Checks When Buying A Used Bicycle In this video I explain some simple checks you should be doing when buying a second hand bicycle. Unfortunately a large percentage of my customers buy a seco...

STOLEN BIKES (HENLEY BEACH)

Have you seen these MTB's that were stolen from a customers home in Henley Beach this week?

They were recently serviced by me and have new Maxxis tyres.

The polished aluminium Santa Cruz Tallboy (large) is rare so this should stand out. The other bike is a Giant Anthem (small) with an external dropper seat cable and Shimano XT wheels.

NEW E-BIKE TOOL
Recently an e-bike gave me a hard time so I have purchased an oscilloscope to investigate those tricky faults. Brings back memories of my electronics apprenticeship after I finished year 12 at Henley High School.

Tidied up my spokes by making a homemade spoke storage roll. Welded seams into a plastic bag with a soldering iron then finished it off with a bit of gorilla tape. Happy days!

What's interesting about this pic?

Of the four bikes in today for repair, three are e-bikes.

In the last few years I am seeing more and more. It's a rapidly expanding market and a great way to get more people out on bikes.

Adelaide Hill Cimbs | Descending Greenhill Road 19/05/2020

I have put up a series of videos on my Adelaide Bike Hire YouTube channel, and will be adding more.

Feel free to pass them on to your cycling friends either here, interstate or overseas.
