A brief interlude of several weeks towards purchasing to build one of these (Flying Legend Tucano https://www.flyinglegendusa.com/ ) shipping costs and international supply chain delays are complicated however the team at Flying Legend are excellent to work with. Order placed. Our Hervey Bay hangar now gearing up for another build.

Gascolator Installed
Well... after 18 months away from building the Lancair ES (COVID - Redundancy from (QANTAS) - COVID - New Job (Army Drones) - COVID - House Sale - COVID - House Move - COVID - New House -COVID - New Job (Teaching) we are finally back to a routine and on the trade-tools in the Hangar!
Refocusing back on where I left off is the hardest part of restarting. Yes, I keep a builder’s log, however, certainly, the ability to multi-task and locate hardware fades quickly with time outside the Hangar.
So, we started off slowly today with templating and planning for the instrument panel, whereby I instantly recognised I needed to place the pilot seats in the cabin so I could ascertain the correct height position of the panel for knee and leg clearance.
It is good to be building once again!
March 2020 was my last landing on the B-747-400. Since then we have had little time (or opportunity) to continue work in our Hangar at Hervey Bay. December 2020 had me and 200 other Pilots (Mostly B-747) retrenched from QANTAS. I count my blessings as I am a trained Mathematics and Science Teacher and still operating in the Army Reserve. Work between COVID Ops in the ARes and Secondary Teaching via TRS kept a flow of money coming into our family. We have moved to Hervey Bay and once again are back into our Builds. Glenn is building an RV7A and Leigh and I are continuing on the Lancair ES. It is good to have the time to now concentrate on the Lancair Build. More to follow. Stay Safe.

Update: Lancair ES
With the sale of the RV8s in December 2018 we can now refocus on the Lancair ES
The main planes are now finished and awaiting their Prima-coats and then Painting. We have a little work to do on the control surfaces.
The white paint is a new compound that is easily applied over a prepared micro coating that eliminates the additional work required in micro-ballooning alone.

FRASER COAST AVIATION CENTRE & McNEIL AVIATION.
As you're aware, the Gold Coast is hosting the Commonwealth Games from 4th April until 15th April 2018.
As Queenslanders, we are excited and proud that our great city of the Gold Coast is hosting athletes from over 70 nations and the biggest event to ever be held on the Gold Coast to date!
However, we are also very much aware that it will cause significant disruptions to usual business trade.
Due to road closures and expected heavy traffic congestion during the Games, McNeil Aviation and Colonial Airways will be on furlough given our office proximity to many events and the athlete village.
We anticipate that our ability to provide our usual seamless service will be restored directly after the completion of the Games.
Our team is committed to ensuring minimal disruptions and we will endeavour to communicate as much as possible both prior to and directly after the games by email.
Thank you for your patience, and enjoy the Games
