Sailing is a wonderful way to get children out in the fresh air, learning new skills and participating in a sport that may be both individual and team orientated. Our courses are designed to provide a fun safe and enjoyable introduction to small boat sailing. We give children an introduction to fundamental boat handling and essential knowledge that will allow them to know the freedom of sailing small boats. Teach them new skills, build their confidence and water awareness under the guidance of our instructors.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

* Kids ages - between 7 and 12 years
*What's supplied ? - all safety equipment, boats and instructors, bring sun protection and dry clothes
*What do you need ? - You don't need to buy any special equipment as you should be able to find required clothing already in your wardrobe. .
* What will kids learn? - boat handling skills, right of way rules for craft, the science of efficient sailing and knowledge and confident water awareness.
* Swimming level required - Children who participate in our activities should be able to swim. We supply lifejackets which they are required to wear at all times.
*There is some cost, largely to cover liability ,we provide three two hour sessions free and then a decision can be taken according to the level of interest.
*SUPPORT - IT IS IMPORTANT THAT PARTICIPATING CHILDREN HAVE PARENTAL SUPPORT IN ATTENDANCE AND BEYOND THE LESSONS. Children tend to misplace equipment and do not have the vision to notice wear and tear on equipment and both issues limit sailing time and outcomes.
* This year we will commence on 21st September and with sufficient interest and good weather may continue during the school holidays.

Our juniors sailors are keen to keep sailing through winter.
Unfortunately we are now 3 Sabots down with Daniels boat the only one left sailable at the moment. So the Bics were in full swing with Rebecca having her first sail independently.

Thankyou to John for taking on the role of Secretary for the Maryborough Sailing Club.
This weekend, Saturday February 18, will see the recommencement of the Learn to Sail program. Our club is hoping to see as many Learn to Sail kids, on the water, this weekend, as possible.

All of the Maryborough Sailing Club sabot sailors completed the course in the first two heats of the Peter Robba Sabot Week. Great job!
