24th August is the entry date for 2024. Set your alarm for 9am so you don’t miss the chance to secure a spot on Spirit of Hervey Bay Whale Watch Cruises boat for the swim.
You’ll have first spot at spectator seats too in the entry portal.

Our new swim vessel Spirit of Hervey Bay Whale Watch Cruises kicked off the season yesterday with some awesome sightings.

In other news, entries for the 2024 edition of the Barge2Beach are just a little while away. In the meantime, head over to the Hervey Bay 100 page and give it a like/follow as we will be using it for all socials from now on and shutting this page down.

To help ensure the best chances of having our exciting swim from offshore in November, Bobbie from Spirit of Hervey Bay Whale Watch Cruises has offered up her boat for the swim. This will enable safe swimmer entry into the water in much windier conditions than the Kingfisher Bay Resort barge allowed. Kingfisher have been great supporters of the event and we thank them for that, while also looking forward to continuing our unique swim as part of the Hundy Festival with Bobbie and her crew.

It’s all happening this morning 🙌🏼

Sadly the wind is going to knock the barge around too much to get everyone off safely. So Plan B is enacted which allows an extra hour sleepin!

Registration 5:45-6:45am at the Hervey Bay Surf Livesaving Club at Torquay. (Ute will be there to bring gear bags back to race precinct.)
Race start 7:00am
Pyramid buoys at first turn and final turn. Keep the beach on your left in between.

The conditions offshore aren’t picture perfect at the moment 😉
Kingfisher Bay Captain Warren is calling it 50/50 at the moment and we are having another look at things this afternoon to see what the wind does.
We will give it every chance to get the swim off the barge, but will only do so if safe.

At this stage the weather gods are playing nicely for us and the Kingfisher Bay Resort Barge2Beach will be going ahead still using the Barge. If anything changes we will keep you informed as we know many people are travelling for the swim. (The contingency if the weather does turn bad is the swim along the shore)
