Wednesday afternoons at our clubhouse often have visiting speakers for our ‘education hour’, yesterday it was one of our own with Mark giving us a talk on the invasive tilapia (cichlids) that are taking over our waterways. He also went on to explain and demonstrate some practical tips and tricks on responsible and sustainable fishing methods. Thanks Mark!!!

Our Wednesday afternoon club meetings are a great chance to learn some new skills or brush up on some older forgotten ones. With our upcoming fishing trip to Lake Monduran in mind, yesterdays 'education hour' was Barra themed. Don shared some great info on various lures. Aaron then came up to show us his method for tying the FG Knot to join Braid to Leader.
Fun fact, FG is believed to stand for Fine Grip, Freaking Good (and other 'similar' variations). It is also sometimes called the GT knot for its strength in catching Giant Trevally. The other advantage besides strength is the ability to pass through the rod eyelets for ease of casting and retrieval. Thanks to Aaron and Don for sharing hints and info. Happy fishing!!! 🐟🐟🐟
Club meetings are held every Wednesday 4pm - 5pm at the clubhouse adjacent to the HB Sports Club in Tavistock St, Torquay.
