As we head towards the end of Term 3, here’s everything our Mini Hurricanes and U10s Mixed Competition families need to know about the final sessions, games and return dates.

🌪️🏀 NOMINATIONS ARE NOW OPEN FOR THE 2026–27 SENIOR HURRICANES REPRESENTATIVE TEAMS! 🏀🌪️

Men’s and women’s players are invited to nominate for the opportunity to represent Hervey Bay in the Hurricanes program. 💜🩵

This year, the action comes HOME, with Hervey Bay proudly hosting the CQSB Carnival at Bendigo Bank Stadium on Saturday 17 & Sunday 18 October. We’re looking for players ready to step up and take on some of the best teams from across the region! 🔥

Hervey Bay Basketball Association is calling on all boys born in 2012 or 2013 to come along to trial #2 for the 2026–27 Under 16 Hurricanes Representative Program.
Whether you have representative experience or are ready to challenge yourself and take the next step, this is your chance to develop your skills, be part of a team and represent Hervey Bay.

🏀 CALLING ALL EVENT SUPERSTARS! 🌪️

HBBA has 5 major events coming up, and we’re putting together a team of volunteers to help us make them bigger and better!

We’re looking for members who are keen to get involved both behind the scenes and on event days. Whether you’re great at organising, promoting, communicating or simply getting in and getting things done, we’d love to hear from you.

There are plenty of ways to contribute, including planning, promotion, assisting with event tasks, rostering, socials & communications, sponsor engagement and fundraising.

You don’t need to do everything! We want to build a team where everyone can contribute in the areas that suit their skills, interests and availability.

It’s a great opportunity to get involved with HBBA, meet new people and help deliver some fantastic events for our basketball community.

Hervey Bay Basketball Association (HBBA) is pleased to invite athletes to register for the 2026-27 Under 16's Representative Team Selection Trials.

Eligibility - U16's Players born in 2012 or 2013

Trial One Details
Date: Sunday 13th September
Session Time: 1pm-3pm
Venue: Bendigo Bank Stadium

Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your scheduled session to allow time to check in, put on basketball shoes, and be ready on court for the commencement of the trial.

What to Bring
Reversible playing singlet (if available)
Size 6 or 7 basketball
Water bottle

🏀🌪️ CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR HBBA ATHLETES! 🌪️🏀

A huge congratulations to Bella, Maddie, Ryan, Fletcher, Tyler & Owen, who recently had the fantastic opportunity to represent Wide Bay at the 10–12 Years Queensland School Sport Basketball Championships! ❤️💙

Being selected to represent your region is an achievement in itself, and we’re incredibly proud to see six of our HBBA members taking their basketball beyond our local competition and competing alongside and against talented young athletes from across Queensland. 🏀

We hope you all enjoyed the experience, made some great memories and are proud of what you achieved.

🏀🌪️ A NEW ERA FOR GIRLS BASKETBALL IN HERVEY BAY! 🌪️🏀

This season, HBBA proudly launched our U19 Girls Premier League (GPL), developed in collaboration with our clubs to create a more competitive, enjoyable and development-focused environment for our female athletes.

Last week, the girls received their new playing kits and they certainly look the part! A huge thank you to Kristy from LTP Construction for capturing these great images. 🩷

U19 GPL has been made possible thanks to our 2026 Major Sponsor, Dream Living Disability Support Services, helping us strengthen pathways for girls in our region and build towards our long-term vision of Hervey Bay Men’s and Women’s teams competing in the Queensland State League. ❤️💙

The GPL is about more than games. Teams are designed to be evenly matched, creating competitive contests where players can develop game IQ, decision-making and learn from both winning and losing.

We’re also building a “we are all one” culture — healthy rivalry on court, with friendships, respect and a positive basketball culture off it. 🙌

Our U19 GPL is currently integrated with Women’s Division 1, giving players a variety of challenging match-ups while participation grows towards a dedicated GPL competition. It has also helped HBBA re-establish a Women’s Division 1 league after a two-year absence.

We’ve also introduced an U19 Development Team in Women’s Division 2, giving selected emerging U16 players an additional game and training opportunity each week.

🌪️ And this is just the beginning.

HBBA is committed to creating stronger opportunities for our athletes to play, compete, develop and stay involved in basketball right here in Hervey Bay.
