Katherine Speedway Blue night wrap up.

A more positive night out for the team after venturing down to Katherine for the KMSC annual Blue Night to raise funds for the local Men's Shed.

With a couple of changes in a different direction and some driving tips....from someone other than dad, Ava managed to have a clean night with no spins or damage and more speed every time she went out.
Massive thank you to Damo and Megsy for the different ideas and words of encouragement.

The track ended up being really racey once the sun went down and a great crowd witnessed some fast racing amongst all the divisions.

Well done to Riley King being the first Top Star home and Tommy Harte being the first New Star over the line.

Massive congratulations also to Harrison Turnbull and the Bluedog team for taking out the $2500 win in the first ever 50 lap wingless A main in the N.T.

Thank you to KMSC all the sponsors that help make the season possible as we wind down to our last event.

We also forgot to say a huge thank you to River Spitzbarth for taking the time to give Ava some tips last week to help her out with her cornering. And to Miah and Mel for pit crew and support duties.

These are the little things that we'll miss about this sport.

Racing again this Saturday night for our last event at Northline. Hopefully some of the confidence and the gains made last night can translate to more consistency on the higher banking of Darwin.

Round 8 & 9 Northline wrap up.

A double header this past weekend did not bring the change of fortune we were hoping for.

With four DNF's over the two nights, we're struggling to make the car go straight ahead at the moment.
There's plenty of speed at times. Sometimes too much! But something just isn't clicking at the moment and we're running out of ideas to remedy the situation.

With that said, this season will be the last for the team as we step away and take a break from racing.
Its a huge commitment to run one of these cars as many parents can attest, and there are a few factors that have led to this decision.

Ava will race the last meeting here in Darwin in a couple of weeks and the remaining few shows in Katherine starting this weekend. With the final meeting for the team being the Tennant Creek titles in late October.
Following that, everything will be put up for sale.

There'll be more to come as the meetings wind down and we go through and thank everyone that's helped us over the journey the last few seasons.
But for now, we're focusing on having some fun in the last few shows.

Cheers
Matt

Northline Rounds 5 & 6 wrap up.

Two weekends of racing at Northline Speedway saw some mixed results.
A disqualification from last weekends feature and a snapped steering rack end in last night's final from being unable to avoid a crash just in front of her, meant Ava watched the rest of both races from the sidelines.

There were some positives from last night though.
We took a big swing at the start of the night and changed quite few things. That, and a different approach in driving style seemed to make her more settled in the car.
So we'll see if we can put a full night together next meeting and hopefully finish the feature race!

Well done to Riley King for taking out the Darwin title last night in the Top stars, and to Kaleb Beurskens for winning the New stars class.

Thank you to everyone that contributes to getting the car out on the track each meeting and to the Northline officials and volunteers for making it all happy.

Northline Round 4 recap.

With 13 cars starting the night, Ava managed an 11th, 9th and 11th in the heats and 9th in the feature overall (3rd in New Stars).

Some over driving at times will require a fair bit of debriefing and watching of race replays before the next meeting.
On a positive note, speed isn't the issue!

Ava's new suit finally arrived. Thank you Emma from EB Graphics

Congratulations to Caiden Weaver for taking out the Top Star feature and Ryder Morgado for coming home first in the Newstars.

Weekend wrap up.

The long weekend saw Katherine Speedway host their annual two night teams challenge.

Ava came away fourth in the features on both nights after a bit of luck and also some bad luck throughout all of the heats.

No major damage to speak of luckily after initially thinking we'd killed a motor on the first night. It just refuses to die...even without any coolant in it!

Congratulations to Kade and Kaleb Beurskens for taking out the Top Star and New Star features on Saturday night, and to Riley King and Ryder Morgado for the wins on the Sunday.

Glad to see Zara Morrison walk away from her second roll-over at the track. It's testament to how these cars are made and the safety gear the kids have to wear.

Well done to the KMSC members and volunteers for all their hard work and a great track both nights.

Back racing at Northline Speedway this weekend.

Round 3 of the Northline track championship was a torrid evening with quite a few cars needing some attention either throughout the night or before the next meeting.

Happy to report no major damage to the 44 other than a failed trailing arm bush and some fibreglass.

We changed a few things to try and make Ava more comfortable in the car. They seemed to work. Now its just more laps and experience.

Thank you to River Spitzbarth for jumping in and driving for the third heat to give us some feedback on the handling. Good job coming from the back to finish 3rd.

Glad to see Ryder Morgado walk away after getting tangled up in the feature and taking a heavy hit to the wall.

A huge thanks to Kylie Westbrook - Real Estate Central and Trav for coming down to support Ava.

As always, thank you to everyone that helps to make it happen.

Round 2 recap.

Saturday saw the second round of racing at Northline Speedway.
Ava is still struggling with the feel of the new car and like Round 1, showed plenty of speed at times, but couldn't find a comfortable groove all night.

A bit of fibreglass to repair after a bingle in heat 1 that took out half the field and a flat tyre were the only things to repair before this Saturday.
We'll change a few things on the car that will hopefully make it easier to drive and see what happens.

Massive congratulations to Ryder Morgado for not only being the first the New star home, but for winning the junior feature outright! You drove beyond your years all night and thoroughly deserved it.

Results to come tomorrow.

Night one done and dusted and the car is still straight.......although not for lack of trying to put it on its roof by jumping the infield!!!

Ava loves the difference in the new car and has found a huge amount of confidence and speed over the off season from somewhere. We just need to work on being consistently smooth now.

The results don't show how much quicker she was on Saturday night than last year, but her starts and lap times for the first few laps of each race were awesome.

Thank you Miah for helping to prepare the car and for being in charge of the tyres and pressures.

A couple of weeks off now until the next meeting at Northline.

A massive thank you to the supporters that have made this season possible in some way.
It's very much appreciated by all.
