"Can we please make fat loss boring again?

Because somewhere along the way, we decided that losing body fat had to involve detoxes, fat burners, cutting out entire food groups, hours of cardio and a brand new “hack” every Monday.

It doesn’t.

The basics still work. 👏🏼

🥩 Eat enough protein
🏋🏼‍♀️ Strength train
🍽️ Find an appropriate calorie deficit
🚶🏼‍♀️ Move your body regularly
😴 Get enough sleep
🔁 Be consistent
⏳ Give it time

That's it.

Does that mean fat loss is always easy? Absolutely not.

But it can be simple.

And there is a BIG difference between simple and easy.

You don't need to eat perfectly.
You don't need to train every day.
You don't need to give up carbs.
You don't need to punish yourself for eating something you enjoy.

You need a plan that fits your actual life, and one you can stick to long enough to see results.

Stop looking for the next thing to add.

Master the things that actually matter first. 🩷

Save this post for the next time social media tells you that you've been doing fat loss “wrong.”

Well… this is pretty bloody exciting! 🥹🏆

Strong Women Can is a FINALIST in the Australian Women’s Small Business Champions Awards 2026!

We’ve been shortlisted in the Fitness Services category, alongside some seriously impressive small businesses from across Australia.

With more than 3,500 entries received, we’re incredibly proud (and a little bit blown away!) to have made it this far.
But honestly, this one feels like a celebration of all of us.

Strong Women Can is what it is because of the amazing women who walk through our doors, the coaches who give it everything, and the community that makes SWC so much more than just a place to train.

Thank you for making us what we are.

We’re incredibly proud to call this place ours and even prouder to share it with you.
Now… fingers crossed! 🤞🏼🏆

Your 40s aren't the beginning of the decline.
They're an opportunity to train differently.

Your body isn't broken.
You don't suddenly need to stop lifting heavy.
And you definitely don't need to resign yourself to feeling weaker, stiffer or more tired as you get older.

You might just need to train with a little more intention.

More strength.
More recovery.
More mobility.
More attention to technique.
More focus on what your body actually needs.

Because getting older doesn't mean you have to do less.

It means learning how to train smarter, stronger and for the long game.

Your 40s can be some of your strongest years yet.

You tell your Trainer you want to get better at running…

And suddenly you're doing calf raises, split squats, core work and hip exercises.

But here's the thing…

Getting better at running isn't just about running more.

Running places a huge demand on your muscles, tendons, joints and bones. So if you want to run stronger, improve your performance and build your capacity to handle more training, you need to build a body that can actually handle the load.

That means working on things like:

🏃‍♀️ Calf strength
🏃‍♀️ Single-leg strength
🏃‍♀️ Hip strength
🏃‍♀️ Trunk control
🏃‍♀️ Overall strength and power

And no, you don't need to spend 5 days a week lifting weights.

For many runners, 1–2 well-designed strength sessions per week can make a huge difference.

So yes… your Trainer really is making you do Bulgarian split squats for a reason.

Strong women run. Strong women lift. Strong women can do both.

Want to learn how to train smarter for running?

Strong women don't all look the same.

Some have visible muscle.
Some are curvy.
Some are lean.
Some are tall.
Some are short.
Some lift huge weights.
Some are just starting out.

There is no single “strong woman” body.
Because strength isn't a size, a shape or a number on the scales.
Strength is what your body can DO.

It's carrying the groceries.
Picking up your kids.
Lifting something heavy.
Getting up off the floor.
Feeling confident in your body.
Having the physical capacity to keep doing the things you love.

So let's stop making strength about how a woman looks.
Strong looks different on every woman — and that's exactly how it should be.

Getting older is inevitable.
Getting weaker, less capable and more limited? That doesn't have to be.
As women, we spend so much of our lives being told to focus on getting "smaller".

But what if we shifted the goal?

What if we cared more about being strong enough to live the life we want for as long as possible?

Strong enough to carry the groceries.
Strong enough to get up off the floor.
Strong enough to lift your suitcase.
Strong enough to climb the stairs without thinking twice.
Strong enough to keep doing the activities you love.
Strong enough to feel confident in your body.

Because strength training after 40 isn't about becoming a gym rat.
It's not about lifting the heaviest weights in the room.
And it's certainly not about getting “bulky.”

It's about investing in the body you want to have 10, 20 or 30 years from now.
You don't need hours in the gym.
You don't need a complicated program.
You just need to start, and keep showing up.

Your future self will thank you. 🩷

Save this as your reminder that getting older isn't a reason to stop training.
It's one of the best reasons to start.

A huge congratulations to Annie, our Strong Woman of the Month for August! 💪✨

Annie absolutely loves her fitness and is dedicated to getting stronger, fitter and better every day. Her can-do attitude, determination and fun personality make her a joy to have in class. She has a wonderful way of lifting up all the women around her with her positivity and beautiful personality. 🫶

Annie has been part of our community for a year now, training in both 1:1 Personal Training and our group classes. She’s currently putting in the work to prepare for the HYROX relay in December 🏃‍♀️🔥, and we can’t wait to see her take it on!

Outside of her regular training, Annie has also thrown herself into the wider SWC community. She’s taken part in our Lifting Party 🏋️‍♀️, joined our Mother’s Day Classic team 🏃‍♀️, taken on our SWC ROX charity event, and joined us for many of our workshops.

We are so thrilled to have Annie as part of our community and are incredibly proud of everything she brings to the gym. Her energy, positivity and willingness to get involved are exactly what makes our community so special.

Congratulations, Annie! We’re so lucky to have you as part of the SWC community.

This Sunday is SWC Rox.

And before we get into the hype — we just want to say something to everyone who's going to be there.

It doesn't matter what category you're in, how long you've been training, or what your result is on the day. What matters is that you decided to show up and find out what you're capable of.

That takes something. We know it does.
We'll see you Sunday. 🏆🧡

This is exactly why we strength train.

Not just to lift heavier weights.

Not just to change the way our bodies look.

But so our bodies can keep doing the things we love.

Aby has been skiing for years, and every season those first few days would leave her legs absolutely wrecked.

This year, after spending time building strength, particularly through her lower body, she noticed something different when she hit the slopes.

Her legs were stronger. They handled the demands of skiing better. And she could actually feel the difference.

And honestly? THIS is the stuff we love hearing about.

Because strength training isn't just about what happens inside the gym.

It's about having the strength, confidence and capacity to live your life outside of it.

Whether that's skiing, chasing your kids, travelling, playing sport, carrying your groceries or simply getting older without feeling like your body is holding you back…

Strong women can do more.

And that's what we're here for.
