Our mixed U14’s side with Bentleigh ANA kicked things off with the first win for the club this season on Friday night. With key performances all-round, it was well deserved!
Our second U14’s side played a fierce side in Carnegie South, but the boys didn’t let that stop them. With Harvey setting the tone, a knock of 31 from just 23 balls.
Unfortunately, it just wasn’t quite enough and their opponents were able to chase the score down. On to a Highett West double header for the U14s next round!!The First XI got the job done in style, chasing down Cluden 2’s 222 just one wicket down! Ben McDonald was unstoppable, finishing unbeaten on 119 from 93, with Adnan Karim lending a hand with an unbeaten 52 from 40. Earlier, Mason Thatcher picked up 3/20 and Muthu Krishnan claimed 2/23 to help keep Cluden in check. A fantastic all-round performance from the Firsts!
The Second XI made light work of the chase, getting past EMC Sports Club 2’s total of 183 with six wickets to spare. The skip Lucas Adams led the way with 4/23 and a run-out, Robert Ridgway chipping in with 2/16 before making an impact with the bat, top-scoring with 55. Tristan Cooke’s unbeaten 46 helped seal the deal. A handy day out for the Seconds!
The Third XI had a tough day against Le Page Park 5, but that did not stop the spirit of the Burra’s with HWCC seeing a father-son combination take the field together for the first time in a few years! With the ball, young Lachlan Henebery took 3 wickets from his 7 overs. Kaine Bridger top-scored with 21 and Richard Henebery added 15 as the Thirds reached 9/90. The result didn’t quite go our way, but a special club moment made it a day to remember!
