UNIQUEENS vs BURNIE

🏆 FROM THIRD ON THE LADDER TO PREMIERS!

UniQueens 34 – 24 Burnie Emus 💙💛

What a Grand Final.

UniQueens have finished their 2026 season on the biggest stage, defeating a determined Burnie Emus 34–24 in a thrilling TRU Women’s Rugby Grand Final, coming from third place on the ladder to claim the premiership.

UniQueens started the Grand Final game with purpose, looking confident with the ball and playing a much more structured game. The girls moved the ball well, using their backline to create opportunities and putting pressure on Burnie’s defensive line. With halftime approaching, UniQueens looked in control.

But with less than a minute before halftime, Burnie managed to find the try line and close the gap.

HALFTIME: UniQueens 22–10 Burnie Emus

The second half was a completely different challenge.

UniQueens made a few mistakes and found themselves under pressure, with two UniQuins players sent to the naughty chairs. With UniQueens reduced to just 12 players on the field,Burnie took advantage and put the UniQuins defence under enormous pressure.

The Emus fought their way back into the contest, turning what had looked like a runaway UniQueens victory into a genuine Grand Final battle.
But this UniQueens side showed exactly what they were made of.

They stayed composed, worked for each other and slowly regained control of the ball. With around five minutes remaining, Burnie scored again, keeping the pressure firmly on UniQueens.
But the Quins held their nerve.

The final moments for UniQueens when their last yellow card returned to the field with a few minutes before full time, they began to find their rhythm again.

Then came the final kick off. Alona sent the ball deep into Burnie territory and Ella Gair and Imogen chased hard, forcing a Burnie knock on. With a scrum near Burnie’s try line our forwards stepped up, winning the scrum and to finish it off, our captain Marli Sherriff crossed for the final try. What a way to finish!

But this premiership belongs to every single player who trained, tackled, carried, supported, laughed, 😂 and kept showing up for each other.
And to Burnie Emus what a battle. Huge respect. ❤️

Grand Final
UniQueens v Burnie

Team lists are locked in and the UniQueens are marching into tomorrow’s Grand Final with purpose, pride, and absolutely zero interest in leaving empty‑handed.

Burnie are coming — but our women are coming harder.

Every carry, every tackle, every boot‑print tomorrow is for the jersey, the sisters beside them, and the UniQueens family on the hill.

Semi-Final: UniQueens 24 – 17 Taroona

What a game!

UniQueens secured a hard fought 24–17 victory over Taroona in a tough and physical semi final, earning our spot in the Grand Final!

From the opening whistle, the girls showed plenty of determination and composure. Taroona came out strongly and challenged us right across the park, but the girls stuck to the game plan and kept working for each other.

There were some great attacking moments, strong carries, big tackles and plenty of pressure from both sides. When the game got tight, the girls showed real character, staying composed and fighting right until the final whistle.

A 24–17 win in a semi final is something to be proud of. The girls have worked incredibly hard throughout the season, and today they showed exactly what this team is capable of when they back themselves and play for each other.

A massive thank you to our coaches, manager, supporters and everyone who has backed this team throughout the season. And to the girls enjoy this one, because you’ve earned it! ❤️

Team lists are out and the Quins are rolling into tomorrow like it’s a paid demolition job. Win and we’re marching straight into the big dance. Lose… absolutely not on the agenda.

Both our Men’s and Women’s sides take on Taroona — and we’re fully prepared to make their semi‑final dreams short‑lived.

So grab your mates, your family, your dog, your loudest voice, and get to the sideline. Bring the Quins energy. Pack the hill. Shake the ground. Make Taroona wonder why they didn’t just stay home and mow the lawn.

It’s semi‑final footy — and the Quins aren’t here to participate. We’re here to ruin someone’s Saturday.
