JKA Karate is one of the most dynamic of all the martial arts. A trained karateka is able to co-ordinate mind and body perfectly, thereby allowing the unleashing of tremendous physical power at will. Therefore, it is not the possession of great physical strength that makes a strong karateka; rather, it is the ability to co-ordinate mind and body. Upon developing this ability, even the smallest person finds that they have, within themselves, the power to deliver a devastating blow to any would-be attacker.
“The ultimate aim of the art of karate lies not in victory or defeat, but in the perfection of the
character of its participants.” ...Gichin Funakoshi founder Shotokan Karate. JKA Adelaide, also known as, Adelaide Academy of Karate Do Shotokan, joined back to the JKA in 2016. With Sensei David Rigby as head instructor and school director, established the school in 1984. He has been practising Karate since 1973, in his home, England. He has extensive experience as a member of the national team, assistant national Kata coach, as a national judge, and mentor to many students who have gone onto be members of the national team.
