Happy Father’s Day ❤️💛

Today we celebrate all our dads and dad‑figures who support our players, cheer from the sidelines, volunteer their time, and help make HCSC the community we’re proud of.

Thank you for the early‑morning kick‑offs, the lifts to training, the encouragement after tough games, and the joy you bring to our club. We appreciate everything you do.

Wishing all our HCSC dads a fantastic day — you’re an important part of our football family! ❤️💛

Chapter 9 of our HCSC Volunteer Spotlight celebrates the volunteers who support our senior program — the people who help shape the culture, connection, and identity of our club at the highest level. Senior football brings together experience, leadership, and community pride, and these volunteers each contribute to that in their own way.

Today is a particularly meaningful moment for one of them. Kevin Smart, who has served as both a Senior Men’s Assistant Coach (amongst many other roles as well!) and a long‑time player, steps onto the pitch at 3pm for his final State League match. His commitment, loyalty, and presence have been part of the fabric of HCSC for years, and today we recognise not just his role as a volunteer, but the legacy he leaves as a player. His final kick‑off marks the end of one chapter, and the club stands proudly behind him.

Alongside Kev are volunteers who strengthen our senior program through leadership, communication, and support — each contributing to the environment that surrounds our senior players week after week.

• Kev — Senior Men’s Assistant Coach & Player
• Brenton — Matchday Media Host
• Reardo — Senior Men’s Coach
• Mick — Senior Men’s Team Manager

Together, they contribute to the culture that defines our senior program — a culture built on connection, pride, accountability, and community. Their work supports players on and off the pitch, strengthens the matchday experience, and helps carry forward the values that make HCSC special.

Today, we celebrate all four — and we cheer especially loudly for Kev as he takes the field for one final time.

Chapter 8 of our HCSC Volunteer Spotlight recognises the volunteers who support our developing age groups — the ones who help create the early football experiences that shape confidence, enjoyment, and a sense of belonging. These roles often sit quietly in the background, yet they make a meaningful difference to how young players feel when they step onto the pitch.

These volunteers bring enthusiasm, care, and a willingness to be involved wherever needed. They help keep games running smoothly, support players on matchday, encourage teamwork, and contribute to the welcoming environment that families appreciate. Whether it’s assisting with refereeing, supporting their child’s team, or guiding young players through their first seasons, each person plays a valuable part in building our club community.

This instalment features three volunteers who contribute to that journey:

• Markus — Club Assistant Referee
• Waleed — U16 Parent Volunteer
• Matt — U8 Coach

Together, they help create an environment where players feel supported, families feel connected, and football becomes a place for growth, enjoyment, and community. Their contributions help shape the junior experience our club is proud to offer.

🔴 SENIORS

Hoppers Crossing fell 5–2 away to Dallas City in a tough outing at Laura Douglas Reserve. Dallas struck early with two goals inside the opening minutes, adding a third and fourth before halftime. Hoppers worked hard to respond after the break, with Tristan Cabrera pulling one back and Emeka Ekwo hammering home a late long‑range strike, but Dallas remained clinical and closed out the match.

🟡 RESERVES

The Reserves earned a 1–1 draw, extending their unbeaten run to ten matches. Dallas opened the scoring, but Hoppers responded through Hasan Ali to level the contest. A disciplined second half ensured the boys took a solid point on the road.

📅 NEXT MATCH — ROUND 22

We’re back at home next week for Round 22 against Diamond Valley United on Saturday 5 September.
Reserves kick off at 12:45pm, followed by the Seniors at 3pm.

Chapter 7 of our HCSC Volunteer Spotlight recognises some of the volunteers who support our U12 and U13 players — the ones who help shape the experience during a stage where confidence grows, teamwork strengthens, and players begin to understand what it means to be part of a club community.

These volunteers bring consistency, care, and enthusiasm to matchday and training. They help organise teams, guide players through challenges, celebrate improvement, and contribute to the positive culture that surrounds junior football. Whether it’s building confidence, supporting team unity, or helping players enjoy the game, each person plays a meaningful role in the development of our young athletes.

This instalment features four volunteers who each contribute to that journey:

• Shane — U12 Coach
• Matt — U12 Team Manager
• Faik — U12 Parent Volunteer
• Nick — U13 Goalkeeper Coach

Together, they help create a supportive and enjoyable environment where players can grow, learn, and take pride in their progress. Their dedication strengthens our junior program and contributes to the sense of community that makes HCSC special.

A legend hangs up his boots.

Today we celebrate Kevin Smart, a true pillar of the Hoppers Crossing Soccer Club, as he steps into a well-deserved retirement.

It is impossible to measure Kev’s impact on HCSC in just a few words. He has quite literally done it all for our club:

On the Pitch: One of the most capped players in HCSC history and arguably our all-time leading assist provider. If there was a goal scored, odds are Kev created it.

On the Sidelines: A devoted leader who has guided generations of players as a Junior Coach, Senior Coach, and Assistant Coach.

Behind the Scenes: Keeping the club running smoothly off the field through his dedicated service as Club Secretary.

In the Community: Alongside his wife Jess, Kev pioneered our All Abilities program. ensuring that soccer at Hoppers Crossing is a game for everyone.

One Last Run Out

Come down and pack the stands to give Kev the send-off he deserves. His final match in red and gold will be at home against Diamond Valley in our last game of the season. Let's make sure Grange Reserve is buzzing for his final bow.

Thank you, Kevin Smart for every assist, every coaching session, every late night, and every single thing you’ve given to this club. We can't wait to see what you do next! The number 7 will never be the same.
