Timetable of Term 3 Classes - Enrol to start next week! Just a few spots remain.
Term 3 YOGA starts this Monday.
Come join me & other members of your community once a week in a small group to learn some incredible practices that set you up for the week. Check out the timetable for class times or check out my website.
You could book a treatment or private yoga class and have a look, ask questions or get confidence up. If you've tried yoga before and think it's not for you, don't give up on it. There are many amazing and different styles to choose from so it's worth trying a few until you find something that works for you.
However, I am qualified to teach a few different styles & bring them all in from time to time as I think they will benefit. As a myofascial professional, I also bring the balls and straps into many of the classes and we switch it up from week to week to include a variety of practices.
I teach my favourite type of yoga which has a therapeutic approach aimed to suit most people with options to choose from to make it more or less challenging but it has the capacity to be extremely meditative for those wanting a deeper practice and it is finding the space between poses that is one thing that helps facilitate this. Most classes are beginner level though we have a couple of progressive evening classes which include the vinyasa style salutations for those who really love to include some flow.
Yoga is not exercise - it does benefit our body and mind like exercise but it is done with space between and the aim to maintain awareness and listen to your body throughout rather than pushing through. If you have a strength goal, you have the option to hold for longer or do more rounds or choose a stronger version. If you have an injury, you have the option to modify as required or do less rounds and rest. I can show you how to modify poses and make them easier or harder too. This style is slower allowing space between poses to integrate. You are encouraged to integrate the practices into everyday life. It is great to do different types of exercise so take advantage of the walking group I am working on to connect to walking buddies with similar goals and times to you.
There are still a few spots in some of the classes. Thursday 10am class has spots and the progressive classes do too - these are for people that enjoy more advanced postures. There may be one or two other spots left as sometimes there are last minute cancellations or things that come up so please do enquire or waitlist if there is a class you are interested in. There is the possibillity to come casually too if you check space first by texting/calling/emailing.
Both beginners and progressive classes have plenty of pranayama (breath work), deep relaxation and meditation. I have been teaching yoga, breathwork and meditation for over 20 years. There are many different styles of yoga so if you've tried it before and though it wasn't for you, try a few different styles to see what you like. This is a therapeutic style where you use postures to develop or maintain flexibility, strength and balance for the physical body and the breathwork to do the same for the mental emotional body and the meditation techniques that work for you depending on what you need. Breathwork can really influence your energy levels but there are many different types and also you need to be mindful of choosing the right ones for you.
There are so many amazing tools we can use to feel great. One of the main aspects we focus on in yoga is self awareness and developing presence of mind. I know things in life are constantly changing and challenging us but when we are able to remain self aware we can stay in a place of stillness and strength and choose our response. This means we are living consciously rather than getting stuck in a rut of being pulled here and there with the seasons.

If you don’t know much about craniosacral therapy, you may wish to know more about what it is.
I long for more integration between Eastern and Western medicines and therapies. The health system is under strain but there is so very much complimentary approaches can do to help/support.
Luckily many doctors these days are more open minded and see the benefits. They are more frequently referring as they experience the benefits themselves or have clients who tell them how much it helps. As more funding becomes available for scientific research there is increased proof of efficacy though there will possibly never be enough to satisfy our Western need for hard proof (it’s hard to prove Eastern medicine by means of Western based science methodologies as the root cause for the apparently ‘same’ problem (eg low back pain) is unlikely to be the same and so won’t necessarily be helped by the same remedy. But still, we try our best to conform to this Western need.
I believe the proof is in the pudding (this is more along the lines of Eastern scientific proof🤣). There is a place for both in my opinion.
If I feel better (calmer, more balanced or myself) after having space held for me during a time of turmoil or angst, I trust in that.
