Please see our Executive Committee and Ancillary Committee members for 2027 as determined by last night's AGM. The Hornsby Rugby Club would like to thank all of those who put their hands up to take on extra responsibilities to ensure that the club continues to grow and operate as the great community that it is.

Last night's AGM had by far the biggest attendance in recent memory, and was extremely productive as we established multiple sub-committees and filled ancillary positions that we have not been able to fill in recent history. This is a reflection of how much the club is growing and how strong the community of volunteers is behind it.

Following last night's annual AGM, The Hornsby Rugby Club is pleased to announced the induction of two new life members, Karen Truskett-Jones and Shane Mutch.

Karen has stayed involved with both the senior and junior clubs over multiple years, working behind the scenes as her children have moved up through the age groups as players and her husband Tristan has been involved as player, coach and committee member. Karen's role as gear steward and event planner in recent years has allowed many of us to run out in the Red, Black and Gold and to enjoy some amazing presentation nights and more. Although you will still see her at most games where she will watch her children play in the Womens, Colts and Mens sides, Karen has vacated her role in 2027, and we would like to thank her as she looks forward to her well-deserved rest from her HRC-related responsibilities.

Shane has been involved with HRC in every aspect for many years now as player, coach and committee member. Currently holding the title as the club's Vice President, Shane's work behind the scenes in recent years has been insurmountable, as he manages all things related to the club's operations, including correspondence with council, canteen stocktake, and much much more. Although so much of it happens behind closed doors, without Shane's input, the club simply cannot operate. Shane will be returning to his role in 2027, and we look forward greatly to reaping the rewards from his efforts in years to come.

Congratulations to both for their well-deserved recognitions. Karen and Shane rightfully join a very well-respected group of some very well-known names in HRC royalty. Please join us in giving them congratulations!

2026 AWARD WINNERS:

Following a hugely successful Presentation Night at the end of September, we would like to publicly congratulate The Hornsby Rugby Club's award winners for 2026.

The club is built on the backs of volunteers and players that give their all on and off the field, in all hours of every day of the week. We are honoured to include these people as part of our great club, and look forward to reaping the rewards from their efforts in years to come.

A massive congratulations to our three Nalas that made the NSW Suburban Rugby Union representative team this year. The girls’ efforts to stand out in a stand-out team have paid dividends, and we can’t wait to see how they go in the upcoming week.

The Hornsby Rugby Club's night of nights is on its way! The HRC 2026 Presentation Night will be held at major sponsor Magpies Waitara on Saturday, 26 September with a 6:00pm arrival time for a 6:30pm start.

Pricing is $85 a head and includes a two-course meal, canapés, and a welcome drink.

Dress code is black tie for men and cocktail dress attire for women.

In case you (somehow) missed it, your Hornsby Rugby Club has just added three more trophies to the cabinet last weekend!

Before finals, you would have seen that the Hornsby Rugby Club cemented their place as Division 3 Club Champions, taking home the Doc Harris Shield for 2026. Consistency across all four sides throughout the regular season reaped the rewards, with all four teams in finals and two winning their Grand Finals, adding to the 2026 season celebrations.

Before the first game of the day even started at Eric Tweedale Oval, the Hornsby faithful were already arriving in droves. Two busloads (102 seats, plus those that made their own way in!!!) of Lions and Lionesses arrived between 9:00am and 10:00am to show their support for the Red, Black and Gold. The vibes were high as The Nalas ran out in pursuit of three straight Joy Johnson titles shortly after 10:00am.

And that they did. They've lost just one game in three years, piled on over a thousand points and conceded a minute amount, secured two minor premierships, and on Saturday they added the third Joy Johnson trophy to their cabinet in as many years. Their success is inconceivable and their rugby prowess bewildering - there is no doubt that they are the most successful team the Hornsby Rugby Club has ever seen, and have without a doubt cemented their place in the history books for the rest of Hornsby's years to come.

At 1:20pm, the Second XV side took to the field. With a slow start to the year, Seconds took their time to hit their stride, suffering a few big defeats early on in the season. As the training started to pay off, results started to go their way. With that came belief. Belief that the side could do what no Hornsby Rugby Club Second XV side has done for 33 years. Saturday was an arm wrestle from start to finish, as half time had the scoreboard at 3-0 in Hornsby's favour, a margin that provided no comfort. A try from Old Barker in the second half saw Hornsby down 5-3, and neither team looked likely to run away with it. However, 3 more points came off Captain James Garnett's boot with a second-half penalty goal, giving the boys a 1 point lead as the clock ticked down. Defence lifted and the Lions dug in, holding out to victory and bringing home Hornsby's first ever Farrant Cup.

The buses took us home to MTO to the sound of music and the club song, and the day turned into night as the club sat around and had beers on The Rock to celebrate one of the most successful years in the club's history.

Thank you to everyone that made it possible. We look forward to seeing you on September 26 for presentation night where we can recognise those that were so instrumental in such a big year, and we can relive the season once again.

Players, please note that the initial physiotherapy consultation coverage scheme with Dynamic Motion Physiotherapy for the 2026 season will end this Friday. After this Friday, all players must cover the cost of their consultations until we restart the scheme in 2027.
